Bio

The Plastic Soul Band was formed in Kichijoji Tokyo 2002. They won the "Kichijoji Music Festival's Audience Award" with overwhelming support from the audience in 2003. They released the first album "Plastic Soul Band" in 2005.

They have produced a variety of songs influenced by Soul, R&B, Rock, Jazz and Raggae that they now play in Tokyo clubs.

Their universal sound also gained popularity among podcasters throughout countries such as Hong Kong, the Netherlands, German, UK and USA.

From its inception in 1999, Uncle Seth hasn't stopped performing its "exuberant and accomplished mix of pop, rock, acoustic folk, twisty grooves, tender ballads, and pretty melodies, topped off by.rousing vocals" ( PIC Press , Kingston).

Uncle Seth has honed its spirited live performance to "a show , as opposed to playing a list of songs". Forging a relationship with the audience is key to Uncle Seth's success as a live band. "I like that we try to get the audience to engage," says lead singer Amaya Thompson. "A lot of what we do is really relatable." And when halfway through a set the band dons acoustic instruments and parades through the crowd, encouraging them to sing along, they do. And they dance. And they laugh. And when the show culminates in a climactic finish, the audience always leaves grinning.

But the changing music industry has inspired Uncle Seth to be innovative in its approach to releasing recorded music. "MP3 devices have changed the way people listen to music," they explain. "People are downloading, concentrating on songs rather than albums. A big internet trend is podcasting."

Amelia Curran could make an honest run at the title for most resilient singer- songwriter in Atlantic Canada. “War Brides? is her fourth since 2000, quite a feat for the Independent Musician who also adds acting and writing to her talented resume.

If pissed off, lonely, feeling sorry for yourself and missing your home—while not knowing exactly where it is—had a soundtrack, it would be written by Amelia Curran. If the art of making misery and the depth of personal enigma into something that becomes happy and uplifting enough to throw in the odd mandolin lick, Amelia Curran can paint your picture.

Curran draws upon influences such as Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen and Neil Young. Upon seeing her live, it is impossible not to draw the very same comparison. Usually live, especially live…although, oddly the similarity among these influences remains strongest within her lyrics. Once described as “a performer who can smoke, drink a beer, and sing at the same time…harmoniously?, Curran has that dirty raspy “I’ve been there and felt it? conviction to her songs. There is no putting it on, she is real and she’s here to sing about it. The audience is not left to wonder who these songs are about. It’s her, but it is also everyone. The difference, however, is the crisp and melodic tone that leaves the song humming through your head as much as the lyrics echo through your conscience.

Bio

Kerry Politzer started playing the piano at the age of four. She studied classical piano for fourteen years, attending the North Carolina School of the Arts and summer programs at Tanglewood and Interlochen. She entered the New England Conservatory of Music with the intention of continuing her classical studies, but fell in love with jazz after attending a concert in Keller Hall. She studied with jazz guru Charlie Banacos, who inspired her to begin composing, and graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Piano Performance.

In the past year, Kerry has taken a musical detour from her instrumental jazz roots. After participating in workshops held by the Songwriters Hall of Fame, she has been inspired to write songs with lyrics. Her fourth album, "You Took Me In," features these new songs with a full band including Lonnie Plaxico (Cassandra Wilson, Nellie McKay) and George Colligan, better known as a pianist, on trumpet, drums and synthesizer.
