SpudShow 129 Artist - Rae Kelly Track 1 - Black Rainbow Rae Kelly Biography . A ‘Friday’ child so very ‘loving and giving’! . A Taurean - yes, we know that means stubborn – but in the nicest possible way. Rae prefers 'determined'. . Most embarrassing moment: sunglasses being eaten by a porcupine. (Luckily, they weren’t on her face at the time!). . Really likes: good humour, food and Johnny Depp. . Intensely dislikes: insincerity and bad cover versions. . Famous encounters: Passed Bono on Killiney Beach (at about 2 months old!). He didn’t recognise her; that’s ok, she didn’t recognise him either!!! . First public performance: On holiday, aged 6. Rae silenced the bar crowd with a song. They even put their drinks down to whistle and applaud!! . Last public performance: 2fm 2006 Perri Song Contest at Vicar Street Dublin (also live on 2fm radio) . Started writing songs aged about 10 years but was playing ‘by ear’ from about 2 years old. Recording songs and instrumentals since age 14. . Favourite artists: Carole King; Alicia Keyes; KT Tunstall; Damien Rice; John Mayer, Tadhg Cooke.... . Currently: Writing lyrics and music… and studying for the Leaving Certificate. . A‘Crystal’ child. WATCH THIS SPACE……

SpudShow 124 Artist - Anna Lee Track 1 - Forbidden Bio Ok here goes, I grew up in Dublin, Ireland, in a very musical household (my father being a violin teacher!) moved to maynooth to become the much loved stereotypical arts student (studying music . . . and beer!) for two years. It was there that I first performed at the NUIM singer songwriter night hosted by Paddy Curley (thank you bren!). It was at this s/s that I met many talented musicians such as Kevin and Ebby Brett, Catherine Ferris and Anthony Kelly. Moved down to Galway for a year to write music and busk for a living! performing regularly at the Monroes and Warwick singer songwriter nights hosted by Kevin Brett. During this time I also performed at Scribblers wine bar/cafe both as a solo act and in a jazz duo with Ebby Brett. I then moved to Sydney where I played regularly in venues such as The Vic on the Park, Kellys on King and The Marquee and i also recorded my album full of lots of luverly sad and depressing musics while eating pie. now . . . i'm back in galway helping to run People In The Moon Records Ltd. with the afore-mentioned Brett brothers and gigging around Galway in places such as De Burgos, Richardsons, the Rowing Club, the Cellar, the Roisín Dubh, and BK's Wine Bar. I also have gigs coming up in Dublin so watch out for them! Every so often, I'm lucky enough to support Cuckoo Savante. They're a fantastic band, do check them out if you see them playing around Galway. |

SpudShow 123 Artist - Ana Mae Track 1 - A Little Bit New EP called Marry Me released in September 2006 Gigs Friday March 2nd 2007 Wednesday 4th April 2007 Thursday April 26th 2007 Friday May 4th 2007 Bio Singer-songwriter. Ana Mae hates this phrase. “I write songs, I sing them, but I’m definitely not a singer-songwriter!? she explains. Are the first signs of insanity beginning to show? Definitely not. “I grew up listening to my dad’s Blondie and Pretenders albums? adds Ana, “Chrissie Hynde and Debbie Harry are great songwriters, they sing great songs, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard of them being referred to as singer-songwriters.? We know what she means. Not afraid to pin her pop sensibilities to the wall, Ana Mae writes powerful pop songs with an emotional edge. Obvious comparisons can be drawn from her above-mentioned childhood influences but modern comparsions are often made with The Cardigans. “I’ve always loved catchy songs. Songs performed with real instruments and real bands mean so much more. I’ve never wanted to perform on my own, playing live with other musicians is what it’s all about.? This brings us on to the The 442s. Her brother John Gillespie (electric guitar), Chris Darragh (bass) and Darrell Nelson (drums) are the chosen 3. “We’re all from the same small border town (Castlederg, N.Ireland), we all went to the same primary school, there wasn’t really anything we didn’t know about each other.? Says Ana. "They're all really good musicians, and they add energy to the songs. The world has enough twee females making depressing music." "Songs such as Marry Me and Stay are ready-made radio hits" - AU Magazine . "They are a great looking band with Ana Mae looking for all the world like a young Chrissie Hynde" - BBC Northern Ireland. "Lazy beats, countrified hooks, and memorable melodies beautifully sung by the equally beautiful Ana Mae" - AU Magazine . "this band could produce something worthwhile." - BBC Northern Ireland.
