SpudShow 70 Artist - Maeve Kelly Track 1 - Vacant Track 2 - Wave Both tracks from new album "Relative Calm" Buy it here Bio I'm an Dublin born singer-songwriter and self-confessed late-developer, now living in Freiburg, Germany. After years of hiding behind bands, wishing I was Janis Joplin and trying very hard not to be so damned "nice", I've finally made peace with my voice and my undeniably suburban Irish musical roots... "Relative Calm" is the result. It's my first solo album and I hope someone out there likes it! Happy listening... Oh, and if you'd like to get a copy of the new album, you can order it via www.maevekelly.de xM New Album "Relative Calm" This is essentially a solo project, but I had lots of help on the new album: Guitars and sounds - Jens "Big Doc" Lucht (musical partner, surrogate brother, coach and general pain-in-the-ass); Piano & backings - Jan Ullmann (our talented diva who is now concentrating on his own band: check out their great sounds at www.wilson-music.de); Bass - Ingo Rau (also producer and friend - but somebody give that man a decent meal...); Percussion - Mourat Coskun (award winner and all-round good egg); Violin - Catherine Bottomly (close girlfriend and orchestral sex goddess); Viola - Daniela Dieterich (a young lady with balls); Cello - Anne-Katrin Beller (a realy sweetie and a thorough professional); Low whistle and Irish bouzouki - Gerry Murray (an old mate from university with his own successful musical career: www.gerrymurray.com); Extra backings - Sascha Bendicks (find out more about this gorgeous man on www.die-halbe-wahrheit.de) Gigs September, 21 2006 at KiK |

SpudShow 68 Artist - Susan Bluechild Track - Mad about you BIO Keen to experiment with her early song writing potential, she headed for the bright lights of London to obtain the support necessary to launch a career. Once based in London, Susan sought out various musicians to write and record demos with, and spent time training with opera aficionado Tony Norton of the famous Irish Tenors. She spent many years gigging the pubs and clubs of the UK, singing her own material and also working her apprenticeship as an entertainer in nightclubs.

SpudShow 66 Intro from Lovely Day by Steffan Coonan from Podshow Artist - Crissy Evans Track 1 - Dreamcatcher Track 2 - Fit into your shape Bio Well seeing as there's only two of us this will be kinda short! Me and Martin have been playing together since about 2001/2002?? Most of the time we just jam in my apartment and record as we go... Our album " In a Room" was recorded at my home on Martin's 10 track so we had alot of fun making it : ) Unfortunately we haven't gigged in a while, so we're mainly a recording band working on our next album. We both work, and Martin is studying sound engineering in Pulse Recording so we do our best to manage working and recording. That's us I guess!! Until I think of something else more interesting!!

SpudShow 65 Artist - Louise Sands Track 1 - Hideaway Music & lyrics - Louise Sands Track 2 - Take me Away Music - Tim Murphy (main riff), Alan Ladd, Cavan Fyans & Louise Sands
Bio I got a keyboard when I was 10 or so, I remember writing silly little songs then. Since I took up piano at 12, picked up the guitar and I've been singing most of my life. I've got into Jazz lately, singing in a Big Band for a couple of years. I've played in a few acoustic gigs, with friends and solo. Hopefully I get a band together soon in the future to do it all properly!! :)

SpudShow 63 Artist - Jennifer Clarke Track 1 - All in my head Track 2 - Drown Bio A graduate of the Music, Management and Sound course at Ireland's own rock school - Coláiste Stiofáin Naofa - Jennifer has been writing for only two years and yet her music has already been met with critical acclaim and taken the airwaves by storm. Her debut single 'Right Back At The Start', which was launched by singer/songwriter Sinead Lohan, was play-listed by over twenty radio stations, including Today FM and RTE Radio 1. The single, produced by Declan Sinnott, was co-written by Jennifer and Chris Ahern. It immediately generated huge interest, resulting in her playing Special Guest to Ronan Keating at the Marquee, Cork last summer, at '02 in the Park', Dublin and securing a national distribution deal with RMG Chart Records where the single went straight to number 2 in the Bestsellers Chart. Jennifer's second release 'It's Alright' has outdone its predecessor with airplay and is now part of WLR FM's 'Power Play'. Jennifer is currently recording her debut album with Producer Bruce Brody (Pulp Fiction, Maria McKee, Patti Smith, U2 Elevation Tour) due for release in the autumn. Her influences come from a wide range of music including artists from the seventies such as James Taylor, Carol King and Joni Mitchell, the eighties 'techno-era' such as Michael Jackson and George Michael and more recently Alison Krauss, Suzanne Vega and the Dixie Chicks. Jennifer is no stranger to the stage and has been performing regularly for the past two years in venues such as The Lobby, Triskel Arts Centre, Cyprus Avenue, Cork City Hall, the Galway Film Festival, the Hilfiger Sessions in Crawdaddy, Dublin, the Marquee and 02 in the Park, Phoenix Park. Jennifer's single 'It's Alright' is available at Virgin Megastore and HMV, Cork and online at www.cdbaby.com

SpudShow 62 Artist - Abigail Smith Track 1 - Night Time Walking Track 2 - Listen and You Will Hear Abigail Smith-vocals, viola We did this recording in Dublin before I came to Vancouver. I wanted All the music and lyrics are written by Abigail Smith. Words and music Influences Abigail Smith is an Irish woman on a mission to get songs from her insides out to the outside. A melody will appear in a dream and be on her lips in the morning. Picking up the mic she will repeat it so that these songs from another place can be heard by all. Often an emotion is stirred by a mundane event or occurrence in daily life. These emotions are then translated into a song or a piece of music. She has played inside other peoples music for years and now her own volume is louder than the rest so she has to even it out again. Abigail has learnt so much from all her teachers and from everyone she has interacted with. She hopes that her expressions help other people to find their own voices too. Music is a wonderful medium which bypasses language and superficiality. It allows all that is wondrous and beautiful to shine through.
