SpudShow 59 Artist - Lauren and Jess Track 1 - Stand Alone Track 2 - Turnaround Bio Lauren and Jess are 2 former members of a once very popular 4piece band. Starting out aged 12, they performed gigs all over Ireland and recorded their first CD in 1999, which caught the attention of several major record labels. However, it seemed that this was not meant to be their time; the band fell apart at this crucial point in their career, and Lauren and Jess pursued solo careers in the years that followed. In 2004, they reformed as a duo and bounced back better and stronger than ever, and quickly began writing new songs, recording demos and gigging locally. Interest in the girls' music quickly returned, both from the public and from people in the industry. Many now await the release of the girls' new professional EP, provisionally entitled 'No place to Hide.' It is due to be completed in September, and you can pre-order your copy now via email. Roughly recorded versions of their songs can currently be heard here on myspace. You can also vote for your favourite by clicking on the poll below. Gigs Jul 30 2006 10:00A Gildernews Bar Armagh

SpudShow 56 Artist - Una Healy Track - Sorry Bio I am an independent artist and I really think the Internet is such a wonderful thing for the likes of myself and other Independent artists. Songwriting is an art form, there will never be enough music in this world, and creating it can bring so much satisfaction, even if it is never heard by anyone but is creator. I have been bruised and battered along this musical journey to date - but I get back up and try again, try again, try again.......Nothing comes easy I know. But I have also had some of the most amazing and wonderfrul experiences through music and have met such great people too. To be honest if it wasn'f for all those great people who come to my gigs and listen and enjoy my music, well, i don't think it would all be worthwhile. The highs are so high and the lows so low - I suppose that is ok as I am a Libra. I won't go on, that is a basic run down, hope you like what you hear, and if not, I won't hold it against you, we all have our own taste! Peace to you all Una:) Gigs Jul 20 2006 7:30P Radio City Supporting Kiernan McMullan Dublin Artist - Anna Lee Track - Kiss |

SpudShow 55 Artist - Jen Ronan Track - Traces Bio I've been singing since forever but playing guitar since 16, mainly because i had a lot of songs in my head that needed to come out so if you want something right you gotta do it yourself! So I picked up a guitar and here I am. Going to have some songs up on the profile very soon.... Played in London, Greece, Cork ,Limerick, anywhere I've been living. Now i'm back in Cork which is my soul home and I'm feeling it's time to blast onto the outside world and throw my songs out to the universe and hope they don't come back all covered in green stuff.... This is me, my songs speak for themselves and hopefully they will stick in your mind or touch a chord in the soul....bittersweet but hopeful! Listen well, Jen. SpudShow 52 (Classical in Italian) Artist - Sarah Bass Track 1 - Oh bocca bocca bella Track 2 - Oh mio babbino caro Bio Well i'm 18 and began vocal training at Waltons school of music learning from various teachers in both my vocal technique and theory. Under the influence of my previous teacher, Lorraine Cotter, I passed my vocal examination in the Royal irish Academy with a distinction. During my study at Waltons I took part in many concerts and recitals such as the Waltons Christmas Concert which was held in the Bank Of Ireland artâ??s centre. I continued my singing at Waltons until I was accepted by Dr Veronica Dunne and have been a pupil of hers since. I have performed at many concerts including The Marine Hotel variety show, The Good Neighbours music concert and regularly perform at Weddings, parties etc. During April last year I was accepted by the Irish Youth Choir. I was awarded a solo and we performed two concerts in christ church cathederal, waterford and St Caniceâ??s Cathederal, Kilkenny. I was very fortunate to be accepted as one of 5 to study at The Royal Irish Academy. I have preformed in various recitals held in the Academy. I entered Feis Ceol this year with two of my fello classmates from the Access Course as a trio. We preformed â??lift thine eyesâ?? from mendelson and â??he who shies at such a prizeâ?? from Gillber and Sullivan. We were awarded second place. We have since been asked to preform at St Patrickâ??s Cathederal on good Friday. I am a member of Dunboyne musical society, we will be preforming a Rogers and Hammerstein compilation which will be an irish premiere. I am a member of the Royal Irish Academy choir, we have performed Mozartâ??s Requiem and Bachâ??s Cantata in The National Concert Hall and a separate concert in Limerick. SpudShow 51 Artist - The Cherries Track 1 - Why Track 2 - Stella Bio The Cherries Bio. The Cherries began life in May 2005 as simply two lovely Meath ladies and a piano called Nina. Established by Gemma Mcgowan of Kells and Joanne Kieran of Mornington, who randomly met at a party one night, the Cherries were originally a jazz/blues duo called Circus and played their debut gig supporting Mark Geary at the Junction Festival in Clonmel in 2005. They became The Cherries after their first gig in Droghedas, Solas in Sept 2005, earned them a two month residency, which gave them a great opportunity to hone their skills as a band. Theyve been gigging regularly around the North East ever since to delighted audiences. Kierans virtuosso playing and her deep rich vocals combine beautifully with McGowans lighter vocal touch and wild dance moves. Their trademark switching of registers sometimes leaves the audience baffled as to whose singing which line. After numerous line up changes, some minor dramas and with the addition of drums, guitar and Cello, an Austria snowboarder and a Drogheda bin man, who's a real SCHMOOTHAY, the past nine months has seen the Cherries transformed into a funk/blues/rock five piece who are not afraid to throw a little sleazy cabaret into the mix(just wait until you give Stella a listen!). With an original repetiore of over twenty songs the Cherries are on the verge of recording their debut single over the next couple of months, with hopefully an album by the end of the year. SpudShow 50 Artist - Sarah Gleeson Track 1 - Tick Tock Track 2 - Red Bricks Bio I think it all began when I was about 6 and my sister took me into Tower Records and shoved a Jane's Addiction CD in my hand and gave me the money to pay for it so that I could feel like a big girl. After that, I knew music was what I loved. I'm the youngest of 5 children which means that I've been listening to so many different types of music all my life, and reading books that probably arent meant for 10 year olds. My brother was really into The Jesus and Mary Chain and the Cure while my sisters listened to stuff as varied as EMF and Joni Mitchell and The Smiths. So its a mixed bag really. I started playing guitar when I was 15 after begging my parents to get me one and I never really looked back. I started writing my own songs and playing live about 2 years ago, when I was in college, and I won the Whistler's Singer/Songwriter Competition in March 2005. They gave me a day in a recording studion as a prize, which is where the demo came from. It's fairly simple, cos at the time I didnt really know what sound I wanted, but I think it stands up ok on its own. Anyways...thats pretty much it. Have a listen to the demo and tell me what you think...happy days... GIGS Jul 17 2006 8:00P Bewley's Cafe Theatre Dublin

I was sorry to hear that Adam Currys mother died over the weekend. Adam Curry is described as the "Podfather". Adam and Dave Weiner invented podcasting. I has some problems uploading the mp3 file for the show today. After many failed attempts I had to ftp it over a 56k modem line, it took 40 minutes. I hope that you enjoy Spudshow 46.
