The Hermitâs story is one of musical evolution and creative growth. Three albums and multiple tours stretching across almost a decade for founder Hamish Thomson have seen The Hermitâs sound change and evolve, whilst bonds with trusted band-mates Jon Frederiksen (bass), Robert Mitchell (keyboards), and Duane Murrin (guitars) have been strengthened and new vocalist Red welcomed into the fold.

Founded in the year 2000 by Vancouver drummer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Thomson, The Hermit began life as a solo electronic project, so called because of the reclusive life Thomson led during the creation of his debut album âFlying out of Solitudeâ. A successful independent release led to multiple West Coast Music Award nominations and a label deal with Nettwerk Records.

The five members of The Hermit now stand together stronger than ever, fortified by the creative journey with all of its unexpected twists and turns. In 2005 RenÃe, Naemi and Teresa started playing together as Liechtenstein. Influenced by British 80s bands like Talulah Gosh, Dolly Mixture, Mo-Dettes, Girls At Our Best and Shop Assistants, they released their debut 7â single âStalking Skillsâ on Fraction Discs in 2007. The title track made quite a buzz in the indiepop world and a frequent gigging around in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Germany and United Kingdom followed. Around that time Elin joined the band on drums. In the summer of 2008 second guitarist and vocalist Teresa left the band and the others continued as a three piece.

In the autumn 2008 Fraction Discs released their second 7â single âApathyâ, and a video was made for the flipside âSecurity By Designâ. âApathyâ showed a new diversity with its gorgeous vocal harmonies over soft pop melodies. It sounds all cosy, yet this is an angry protest songs. Itâs songs like these that have gained Liechtenstein a true fan base, bringing back that heavenly pop sound from back then âand at the same time commenting upon the very time weâre living in.

A third single was released in February 2009, this time a three track CDR on Drill Building. Starting rapidly, paying a musical tribute to Talulah Gosh, over a shoegazey dystopia to a 48 second post punk song, you start to get the idea of a Liechtenstein album: filled with Pop melodies, elegantly arranged vocal harmonies â and a bundle of short story observations.

In May 2009 their album "Survival Strategies In A Modern World" was released on Fraction Discs and Slumberland (US) on CD and 10".

From the very start, the concept was, in stark contrast to the rest of the Canadian scene during that âNickelback momentâ, unashamedly and unapologetically POP. Dan explains, âIâd like to write songs that at least I can remember. And Iâm very bad at remembering melodies and the lyrics, so it needs to be memorable!â

Through a few strokes of fortune, their first public appearances were baptisms of fire in the deep end of concert-dom. Their second-ever show was supporting New Order at NYCâs Hammerstein Ballroom, followed by a US tour supporting Duran Duran. All after recording just 2 songs in their basement.

Dragonette eventually signed a record deal, and, like fellow Canadians Peaches (who they know) and Gonzales (with whom Dan went to school), headed for Europe. The band decamped to London with Joel and hooked up with guitarist Will (the British quarter of Dragonette), where they honed their small but perfectly-formed, all-killer-no-filler repertoire. Ruthless perfectionists, they explain that âWe donât have any spare songs. We write songs till theyâre finished, then we kill off other ones. Itâs not like we picked 10 out of a possible 20 for the album.â

The results are a dirty, hook-heavy, electropop album called Galore with monsters like âI Get Aroundâ and âCompetitionâ, depicting a world of guilt-free pleasure mixed with an 80s party prowess. Martina isnât interested in writing, she says, âsongs to get depressed to.â As Dan puts it, âItâs hard enough working on songs that are *fun*. I canât even imagine what itâs like working on miserable materialââ The record has received praise from such diverse sources as the NME. UK dailies the Observer, Times and Guardian, online pop bible popjustice, and has garnered multiple mentions from Perez Hilton (whose showcase the band performed at during last yearâs SXSW).

After Aurah's release SONGS OF THE ALCHEMIST Martin took pen and paper on the grassy knolls of Griffith Park in Los Angeles and began writing KISMET. The trippie sounds share the reflective essence being both intimate and universal.

Aurah went on to compose the film score for the award-winning feature film Loving Annabelle and various short films. They're songs are also heard on Little Miss Sunshine and Blood Diamond. Logically...their latest CD ETHEREA BOREALIS is a the merging of soaring, psychedelic soundscapes and songs.

The Girlas consist of 3 women working together to perform original music with a mix of folk, acoustic, blues, soul, and bluegrass. Of these women are:

Candy Diaz Yasuda: a singer/song writer with a penchant for old torch jazz
Carly Smith: a singer/song writer with a heavy background in bluegrass as well as the daughter of reknown bluegrass musician Ty Smith
Kelli Heath: a singer/song writer with amazing talent for guitar composition, slack key, and witty lyrics.

Under the collective title, The Girlas, Kelli, Candy, & Carly began collaborating amongst one another to create a genre of music that incorporates all aspects of their individual skill.

The debut release of âNow of Neverâ was met with much appreciated enthusiam. Artist Bio

Best Crisis Ever, the new album from trans-continental ApSci (pronounced APP-sigh), was begun in a Brooklyn apartment overlooking a coffee factory in 2006, and finished in a Sydney apartment by the beach in 2008. While 2005âs Thanks for Asking was a collabo-rich hip-hop-electro diary with guests spanning from indie-rap pinch hitters Mr. Lif and Pigeon John to the bandleaders of TV On The Radio and Antibalas, the new record has been executed almost entirely by the duo, Australian-Filipina Dana Diaz-Tutaan and the Irish-Italian, Bronx-born Raphael LaMotta. Itâs a louder, catchier and more expansive take on ApSciâs unique combination of electro, hip-hop and quirky pop, relying heavier on songwriting and a combination of vintage drum machine sounds, synths and guitars. Itâs equal parts New York bravado and Australian charm, reflecting the respective hometowns of each, and how the duo, despite the nearly opposite lifestyle and pace of the cities, have managed to comfortably straddle both for nearly a decade.

A little history: the Iate 90s, summertime in New York. Nuyorican Poetâs Cafe, Rocksteady Reunion, Baby Jupiter were the places that mattered to a devoted scene. Solesides, Company Flow, Mike Ladd and Antipop Consortium were underground brainiac heroes. Open mics and street cyphers were a vibrant and common occurrence in every borough, and people came from all over the world to experience the cityâs late-era hip-hop renaissance.

It was in this context that Dana, who was then visiting New York, met Raphael. Although their fi rst encounter wasnât exactly congenial (âI was in a weird mood,â Ra explains. âHe was rude,â Dana counters), they were a part of a tight circle of performers and often found themselves on the same bill, or in the same crowd, or freestyling on the same corners. Soon studio time was booked, pager numbers were exchanged, and before long they were collaborators, writing and recording their own unique material.

Raised only a few streets from the legendary Van Morrison (although, admittedly several decades later), Elle Stevenson is finally receiving recognition in the Northern Irish music scene and, having won a showcase on the music investment website 'Slicethepie.com', which secured her Â15,000 to record her long-awaited debut album, it looks like she's all set to grace more than just the local scene with her talent.... 

At the centre of the music is her voice - best described by the terms "fragile", "ethereal" and "haunting" - which provides an apt vehicle for songs which betray a rare kind of honesty. Stevenson certainly doesn't shy away from wearing her heart on her sleeve and her songs have, at times, been described as "lyrically raw". Yet, they are so carefully framed by those trademark cascading piano lines that the incongruity of the music and lyrics merely draw the listener to the place where catharsis and redemption finally meet. 

While comparisons to other artists reveal little about Elle's unique direction, she does list an impressive range of influences of artists whom she admires, including the likes of: Suzanne Vega, Justin Currie, Crowded House, the Dixie Chicks, Lucinda Williams, Patty Griffin, Alanis Morisette, Sarah McLachlan, Gillian Welch, Tracy Chapman, Angie Stevens, Sheryl Crow, Ryan Adams, Bill Mallonee, Bryan Adams, Coldplay, Rascal Flatts, Radiohead, Kings of Leon, Editors, The Fray, OneRepublic, The Beautiful South; not to mention a few you might not expect, such as Shirley Bassey and Take That!

To date, Elle has supported many artists on the local Irish music scene, as well as those of international acclaim, such as guitar legends Rodrigo y Gabriela and pop/soul diva, Beverley Knight. With the fast-approaching release date for her debut album, however, Elle is unlikely to be the supporting artist for much longer and the expectation is that it won't be long before you're hearing a lot, lot more from this talented lady....

Elle's debut album "Coming Around" goes on general release Monday 21st September 2009.

Sara Tavares was only 16 years old when she won two of Portugals most prestigious TV music contests. Born out second generation Cape Verdian immigrants, Sara grew up between two cultures. Initially known as a singer and composer of Gospel, Funk and Soul, she gradually incorporated more African music in her compositions. Her second album Mi Ma B, produced by Parisian Lokua Kanza, reached gold in Portugal and was a mix of African rhythms and melodic pop songs. After a long wait of five years, finally her new album Balance was released in February 2006. On this record, produced by Sara herself, she wrote and composed all the songs and played many of the instruments. Balance is a beautiful record on which Sara shows to be a very talented contemporary singer/song writer, who has managed to combine in a subtle and honest way contemporary music with her African roots.

Velosheen was started from pieces of a Austin band called Spiral Station.
Erik Arhelger (guitars, keyboards, drums) and James Arhelger (bass & guitars) were quickly joined by singer songwriter Lindsay Noah (vocals, keyboards).
The three members wrote the music and lyrics and started recording new songs in December 2000.
Dave Davis joined the group as the drummer in early 2001.
Spankee joined on bass after Erik moved to San Antonio to start Medical School.

Velosheen's music is a mix of melodic guitar pop, driving bass lines, & cool rhythms with female vocals.

Sweet as apple-pie pop, from Stockholm high school girls, led by a pounding Hammond organ. These four tracks emulate some of the true twee pop greats such as Bis and Girlfrendo. âThose Dancing Daysâ, the northern soul inspired song which the band are named after, could easily fit onto the soundtrack of Austin Powers. âHitten,â possibly the bandâs signature tune is a fizzy pop number which will have you singing along instantly. If this band are not the next big thing I am willing to bet my life savings that one of the members of this group will feature on a Top Twenty selling Swedish album within the next five years.

SUNSOMA are one of those bands that need a string of adjectives to best describe their music- they truly have a sound thatâs all their own, and yet are not so left of the field that you canât get a firm grasp on their catchy, hooky tunes. O.K here come the adjectives: Alternative/Indie/Rock/Pop-esque - Yep that should cover it.

The band was originally formed 6/7 years ago by Mel and for those with an appetite for all things cultural, the band name comes from a Greek word meaning âUnityâ. In true Rock ânâ Roll style Sunsoma has endured a healthy number of line up changes but their resolve to keep pushing on has never diminished. â Stuff happens and youâve got two choices- winge or go with it! â says Mel â music is the most amazing art form on the entire planet and we just love what we do â

Last October the band weathered one such change, and found themselves âgoing with itâ as they swiftly downsized into the compact yet fully in tact 3 piece that they are today. Having shaken the dust and with creativity levels positively thriving, these three have, it seems, become more tight knit than a woollen wetsuit.

Helen Austin is a prolific singer/songwriter from the UK now living on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. Her music covers a wide range of relational dynamics and her melodies stay in your head long after hearing them.

Helen has written music and lyrics for specific occasions such as a theme song for A Fighting Spirit, and her song "Relay", written to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society event, is now played at Relay events all over the world.

She released her CD 'Things You Can't Undo' in May 07 and her new CD 'One Eye On The Door' is out now. She is about to release e new EP, Perfect Girl.

When you see Amanda Duncan in person, it's easy to think, "How does all that sound come out of that little body?" Never quite blessed with height, Amanda was blessed with one roaring set of pipes. And a knack for writing lyrics so honest, they cut right to the core of her audience.

After borrowing her uncle's guitar for a brief stint in high school, she soon realized that this whole music thing might just be more than a fling. She began writing songs about silly things at first, but as her musical understanding grew, so did her desire to really connect with people. She realized that if she was feeling strongly enough to dignify a situation with a song there must be others who could relate and benefit from hearing their own story. "There are so many songs out there that are reflective of negative issues of people's lives. I want to connect with the positive."

A primarily self-taught musician, she plays guitar, hand percussion, and most uncommonly, the mandolin. For those listeners looking for something refreshing, Amanda delivers. She infuses the pop country structure with a folkier sound than most current artists. But what really sets her apart from the rest is her dedication to simplicity and her traditionally acoustic sound, reminicent of the bluegrass style.

The Raygun Girls is an Alternative Hard Rock group heavily influenced by Gothic, Industrial, Punk and Metal music. The sound has been compared to Static X, Lacuna Coil, Killing Joke and Evanescence.

The band recorded an album, "The Ones I Denied," with members of The Clay People at Scarlet East Studios. The music is a true mixture of dance beats, metal guitars, catchy choruses, angelic/sexy vocals and aggressive lyrics.

After securing a record deal with KillZone Records, as well as a new lead vocalist, The Raygun Girls returned to the studio to record an EP as an introduction to the new and improved RG sound. The guitars are crunchier, the vocals ar more powerful, and the songwriting is tighter.

With the label deal, new singer and sound, The Raygun Girls are preparing to take on the world.

Girl Activity melds the in-your-face, buzz-saw guitar, and driving rhythms of the Foo Fighters sound with the understated, vulnerability of the vocal stylings of Liz Phair and influential indie pop group Belly. The group conveys a relaxed, plug-in-the-amp-and-let's-play attitude. Lead singer and rhythm guitarist Jessie Ambriz heads up an eclectic bunch with roots in soul, R&B, rock and heavy metal. The very talented Nick Jaffe, also of the group Soul People, plays lead guitar. His dynamic presence contributes to the band's enthusiastic range of the rock-n-roll genre. Alyson Carrel, who was a member of Popcanon, keeps it tight and in the pocket on bass. Nina Talia, formerly of the soul-funk band Thrillhouse Collective, lays down the beats on the drums and shares song-writing credit along with Jessie.

Jessie Grace is a singer/songwriter from South Bucks, who began her life in music studying classical piano. She went on to teach herself guitar and it was then that she began to write songs. Sharon Lang started playing music the day her brother Dave taught her how to play a two-chord guitar sketch. Moth Complex is an electronic rock band fronted by singer/songwriter, Aoife O'Leary.

Moth Complex combines Aoife's powerful and gentle voice with off-kilter electronics and bruising rock. It's a sound of contrasting elements - at times loud and intense, at others pretty and soft - with each element complimenting and highlighting the other.

Based in Dublin, Ireland, Aoife began writing songs for Moth Complex with the idea of combining a propulsive sound with a hard, cold edge with open and bared melodies and words.

She approached Gerry Owens to work with her, having known his writing and production on Skindive. Together they defined their sound and wrote the songs for Moth Complex.

The live show is the perfect place to explore the varied musical elements in Moth Complex and here, Aoife is joined by Dave Kavanagh (guitar), Eoin Markey (bass) and Damien Murphy (drums).

MAMMÃT is a band from Reykjavik, Iceland consisting of three girls and two boys aged eighteen and nineteen. In 2004, three months after forming, MammÃt won the annual battle of the bands (MÃsiktilraunir) competition in Iceland . This has been the springboard for some of the most promising bands and artists in Iceland. Since then MammÃt have been playing gigs all over Iceland and Europe ,including supports with Belgian art rockers dEUS. Their music has developed in to something quite unique; distinctive vocals and angular guitars held together by brilliant melodic bass and innovative drums.

MammÃt have attracted international attention from Rolling Stone journalist Dave Fricke who called them "a really good band", Music Week(UK) who named them as "a band to watch for the future", and the respected Playlouder.com website, which described the band as "Incredible". MammÃt's eponymous debut album was released in Iceland in spring 2006 on Smekkleysa (BadTaste) the label founded by The Sugarcubes and one-time home to BjÃrk and Sigur RÃs.

Roman Navarro, a New York rocker, and Meredith Geoghegan, a Jersey grrrl, met in Manhattan while attending college for graphic design in the fall of '98. They became good friends because of their common pursuits as songwriters and musicians. Roman, who had been influenced by the guitar gods of classic rock Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page, was then listening heavily to Elliott Smith and the Flaming Lips. Meredith, who was initially struck by the raw attitude of Nirvana, Hole and L7, was then immersed in the Riot Grrrl scene and bands like Team Dresch and Sleater Kinney. After a few semesters of college together, Roman left to pursue music full time and they lost touch. Five years later, he called Meredith and she called him back twice. Within a few weeks, they began writing and recording music together with no real objective in mind other than to satisfy their own creative impulses.

After playing a loose experimental set of new material at a local show in April 2006, they began actively recording their self-released debut album âCredito O No Creditoâ. Both Roman and Meredith are multi-instrumental, singer/songwriters with keen ears for rhythm and melody. Together, they have composed an album of music that ranges from classic rock and grunge to dub and electronica. Each song is an imaginative soundscape that captivates and entertains. Currently, they are busy filming a few videos and writing/recording their follow up album "Suck a D".

For a talented group of Iranian poets and composers enjoying fame, the Iranian revolution of 1979 extinguished hopes, dreams and careers. We will never know what could have been.
Since a serendipitous introduction in 2003, Monika Jalili has worked tirelessly to revive the touching works of these Iranian artists, some of whom are no longer with us, and most of whom have lived the past 30 years into their old age unable to express themselves as they once could. It is their songs that Monika sings with passion, appreciation, care and love.

Monika's repertoire also includes folk songs from various regions of Iran. All songs are sung in local dialects and languages, with additional English and French translations on selected pieces.

Monika Jalili brings to life the rich history of Iranian culture through its music and poetry. Her entrancing selection of songs spans time and place; traditional Persian folk favorites stand alongside love songs from the 1940s to 1970s, a time of great cultural change in Iran. The songs are performed in their original languages of Persian, Azeri, and various dialects. Using traditional and non-traditional instruments, her ensemble musicians combine their influences to present original interpretations of this music. In a spirit of exploration, Monika aspires to create understanding through an appreciation of the beauty of Iranian culture. Monika's English and French translations are her way of sharing the poetry she loves with a global audience.

Born and raised in Denver, I am the youngest of four daughters born to a singing preacher and his pianist-singer wife. Music is in my DNA, along with Christian spirituality and a healthy daily dose of all things theological. I "became a Christian" just a few months after I learned to walk, and was fairly certain that life would be a bag of tootsie pops thereafter, especially since the day I got saved my mom let me jump on the bed. So when a silly boy broke my heart during my junior year of high school, I was all but ruined at the tender age of 16. God became elusive and un-knowable, His presence with me questionable at best, and faith became something Iâd have to, for the first time, hash out and make my own.

So, against the soundtrack of the brutal but beautiful honesty of artists like Jennifer Knapp and Sixpence None the Richer, I set out to find a connector between what I knew in my head and what I was experiencing in real-life that seemed to contradict intellect at every turn. I researched and wrote the high school equivalent of a dissertation on the resurrection of Christ, and in so doing discovered the importance of having a personal faith based in reason. And I honed in on my love for writing poetry, decrying the pain of relationships, religion, and human depravity and finiteness, learning the importance of allowing the spirit the freedom to abandon reason and express what only a creative God could understand.

Of the numerous striking qualities of CupÃro, the 19-year-old singer/songwriter and rocker, itâs the commanding presence of her voice and songs that sets her apart. Since she was a child, Trina showed an interest in music. Her mother recalls hearing her sing along to various songs or movies all the time.

As Trina grew up, her interest in music and singing grew to become a passion. In school, piano lessons were always her first choice! She went on and participated in various variety shows and talent shows, including Montrealâs renouned Reggae Festival! With the help of a vocal instructor, she perfected her technique, since vocalizing was very important in keeping her vocal scale strong and powerful. Trina then took on song writing to create her own original material. As time passed, she developed and perfected her writing skills, growing to become the talented singer and song writer she is today.

Puppetbox is a band. They are currently under the radar. In fact, both the radar and the band are unaware of each other. Whatâs black and white and can crush you like a bug? A piano. These monsters weigh anywhere from 300 lbs for a small upright, to four or even five times that for a concert grand. So why do artists let them sound so wimpy? KRISTEENYOUNG wants the piano to kick your ass. Their new album, Music for Strippers, Hookers, and the Odd On-Looker, feels like it was born in the boxing ring, not some sun-dappled Laurel Canyon living room.

âI wanted to create a new sound for piano on this album, and for it to be just as powerful and creative as any guitar-based record. I wanted it to sound like a wall of pianos, but like the wall in the film, Caligula: a wall that moves and decapitates everyone,â says Kristeen Young. The singer and composer has played since her childhood in St. Louis, and she knows what the piano is capable of. She sought to recapture the fiery, dangerous noise early rockers like Jerry Lee Lewis and Fats Domino wrought from the instrumentâs eighty-eight keys, albeit in a wholly modern way.

Youngâs foil in KRISTEENYOUNG is drummer âBabyâ Jef White, whose energy and fills bring to mind the great British drummers, but whose groove is undeniably American. Together, the duo has forged a sound full of percussive impact and melodic grandeur.

From their high school music class all the way to Massey Hall, Amanda and Sheila of Dala have come a long way in a short time. These two best friends have brought their signature style of acoustic pop music to audiences across Canada, touring with the likes of Jann Arden, Tom Cochrane, Matthew Good and most recently Stuart McLean of the CBCâs Vinyl CafÃ. Dala's last two albums , 2006's "Angels and Thieves" and 2007's "Who Do You Think You Are" earned them a total of four Canadian Folk Music Award nominations. Their videos have been featured on Bravo, CMT, Much More Music and MTV. Dalaâs talent, energy, and wit are sure to keep audiences entertained and wanting more for years to come. Their fourth album "Everyone Is Someone" is slated for release in June of 2009, with the first single "Levi Blues" already climbing the charts. Maria Daines fronts a hard rockin' band playing original material written by Maria & guitarist Paul Killington. Hailing from Cambridgeshire, UK, they formed in 1996 becoming a fixture of the live music scene & making several TV appearances, garnering fans in over 20 countries. Although her writing began in high school, Jenningsâ surge in musical expression started after the sudden death of her mother. âThis tragedy rocked me to the core, but there is so much beauty in what it allowed me to do,â she says. âAll of my emotions came pouring out in the form of melody.â At the time, her father, a former musician, gave her the option to go through therapy or record an album. He knew both would be equally helpful to her, but by recording her music, she would be able to have something to hold on to and share with others for a lifetime. Tara Simmons grew up on a five acre hobby farm on the flats at the foot of the Blue Mountains, her world bordered by a tapestry woven from captivating, haunting, simple sounds. In her mind, sheâs never left.

Little Tara was a solitary lass, but always looking for ways to channel her talent. When she was four, she parroted her brother playing violin to the point where she was sent to lessons of her own. At the age of nine, she nagged her cello-playing mother to be let loose on that instrument as well. And by the time she started high school, sheâd had eight different piano teachers â seven of whom were ill-equipped to deal with her short attention span, her intolerance for âMy Grandfatherâs Clockâ and other basic piano pieces, and her roaming mind. All the while, she honed her delicate voice in the Australian Youth Choirâs chamber ensemble.
Every afternoon of her young life, she was taxied to a different lesson determined to follow in the footsteps of those who influenced her.

Throughout her teens, Simmons fiddled after hours with illegal cracks of Logic and Cubase on her home computer, experimenting with electronic beats and found sounds, and blending them with the instruments sheâd known all her life. And all the while, she was writing - letting spikes of emotion carry her away to a different realm, from which she always returned with a song. Her questing nature eventually led her to leave home to further her studies of music production.

In 2005, now based in Brisbane, she unleashed her compositions on an unready public from behind a giant hard-drive and screen at a venue in the River Cityâs Fortitude Valley. So fraught was that performance that she didnât take the stage again for another year, instead choosing to continually tweak her seven-track debut EP Pendulum. Convinced it wasnât quite ready to leave the nest, Simmons all but shelved it.

Dreamdate get right to their business of brightening our day with their short, snappy tunes. Jeannine Hebb, an award-winning songwriter and vocalist, has been studying, performing, writing, and rocking out since she was 11.

At 20, Jeannine graduated magna cum laude from Berklee College of Music, having studied with some of the best in the business (Gabrielle Goodman, Pat Pattison, Livingston Taylor). For two consecutive years, she won both the Berklee Singer/Songwriter and Songwriting Showcase competitions. She was chosen as the recipient of the Frank E. Remick and E. Ione Lockwood awards for excellence in music and vocal performance, and was honored with the Susan Glover Hitchcock scholarship for outstanding musicianship. Upon graduation, Jeannine received the Scott Benson scholarship for performing songwriters - the highest honor in the Berklee songwriting department.

Jeannine has been seen both as a singer and songwriter at many a famous venue in the Northeast including: Scullers, The Ragatta Bar, The Middle East, Harper's Ferry, The Berklee Performance Center,  The Bitter End, Rockwood Music Hall, Don Hill's, and Galapagos Art Space, and many more. She's appeared with jazz legends Ben Monder, Clarence Penn, James Genus, and Tim Ries, and has served as an opening act for two-time grammy nominee Tracy Bonham. 

Jeannineâs debut EP of original songs, âToo Late to Change Meâ, was released in March of 2007, and has received national attention and acclaim.  The songs, while roughly categorized as pop/rock, borrow influence from blues, jazz, R&B and soul. Comparisons have been made to Fiona Apple, Laura Nyro, Carole King, and Norah Jones. The EP has been described as âmusic like we have not heard in many, many yearsâ, and is âtruly reminiscent of the styles of foundational, outstanding songwriters.â - Noah Fleischman (WOR NYC radio producer).

The 24 year oldâs original compositions and jazz singing projects can be heard on the Boston College Show "The BC", and on many area radio stations, including Boston's famed WGBH.  Jeannine has appeared as a frequent guest on New York television and radio - as a performer on the Joey Reynoldâs Show (a long-running hit talk show on New Yorkâs WOR) , and âMetro Elvisâ (a weekly Manhattan program featuring up-and-coming artists).

In 2008, a video of Hebb's song âJust Enough for Meâ, was picked to appear as a sample video on the newest line of video/mp3 players released by Coby Electonics. Last October, her EP was featured on the cover of Discmakers - the nation's leading provider of CD duplication and manufacturing services.

Seduction comes in many forms. Those who can seduce with style make it seem effortless, unintentional, irresistible. Robin Stine's music seduces with a whiff of subtle perfume and a casual graze of her hand as she walks past, leaving the listener powerless to do anything but follow. As a singer, her voice floats on the stylish edge of contemporary coolâlight, but never lightweight. As a songwriter, her enchanting originals set her in the upper echelon of today's songwriters.

Born and raised in Kansas City, Robin began her musical journey as a child singing in school groups and church choirs. When she left for college she had no idea that music would take her around the world. For three of her collegiate years she performed with gospel groups, traveling across the U.S. as well as in Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Hong Kong and China. She then moved to Miami in 1996 to begin her graduate studies. During this time she performed with âMike Sumanâs Swing Cityâ and her own band âSimply Stellarâ at festivals, hotels and clubs throughout South Florida. In 2003 she moved to Pensacola to focus on the next phase of her musical careerâwriting and recording her original music.

Her debut album Daydream is a sleek collection of a dozen original jazzy, bluesy numbers that immediately sound like comfortable standards. The melancholy title track âDaydreamâ, the only co-write on the album, was written with Chris Whiteman at the University of Miami. The album's other originals were written over a six-month period while Robin rebuilt her home in the wake of Hurricane Ivan. âThese songs are very personal. They were gifts from âthe musesâ of genuine emotion, faith and hopeâand theyâre my gift to the world.â

Born in California, but raised in Switzerland, Lieberman felt the isolation and loneliness of growing up a foreigner early on, and as a young girl, turned to her writing as a form of connection, expressing her feelings in journals and in songs. One of three sisters, and the daughter of a chemical engineer and a homemaker, Lori Liebermanâs earliest influences came through her older sister, Susan, who, from her college in Maine, sent Lieberman her greatest and most life-changing gift of all, then current music from the states: Joni Mitchell, Judy Collins, Leonard Cohen, Jefferson Airplane and Tom Rush. Their music and sensibilities inspired her writing even more.

The Blow is Khaela Maricich and Jona Bechtolt.

Khaela Maricich is a pop musician, visual artist, and performer. She works in the cracks between pop music and performance art, bouncing between the genres to suck out the juicier parts of either world. She creates operatic performance pieces using the conversational style of popular music. She has toured the United States extensively performing her monologue based solo opera, "Blue Sky versus Night Sky", as well as giving traditional concerts of dance-party music with her band, The Blow. Under the banner of The Blow, (currently with bandmate Jona Bechtolt), Maricich has released five albums of music, crossing styles from folk to elecronic radio style hits. She has held a number of exhibitions of drawings and illuminated paper sculptures in Seattle, Olympia, and Portland. A native of Queen Anne Hill, Maricich spent an incubative decade in Olympia, but recently moved from her cosy home there to Portland, in order to be the artist in residence at the Portland Institute of Contemporary Art. Jona Bechtolt is a technological multi talent. His sound and video production can be found generously scattered throughout the internet, and in numerous popular live incarnations. With his project, YACHT, he makes textural dance-based compositions and performances, described by some as a "positive energy rainbow dome music from a next-generation west coast healer." He documents its movement via video, text, and images on his deeply archival and well-maintained blog, www.teamyacht.com. Currently, he is one half of The Blow, a constantly recording and touring pop mammoth music duo. In 2003, he was commissioned to create a full length audio/visual electronic pop opera by The Portland Institute for Contemporary Art (PICA), which he performed with his bandmate M. Ritchey. In 2005, he co-created, filmed, directed and edited an internet based reality show, The Ultimate Blogger, on which bloggers from around the world competed to win the illustrious title. The sequel, The Ultimate Blogger 2, is currently in production and is sweeping the nation once again. In January of 2006 he was commissioned for two performances for the New York based art and technology platform, Rhizome.org, as part of their "Crap-tops vs Laptops" show in New York. In February of 2006 he performed at MoMA's PS1 and produced an hour-long internet radio program with Clear Cut Press; a northwest-based publisher of new literary work. He has toured the United States and Canada extensively with his own projects, as well as a number of other bands. Most recently he played drums on Devendra Banhart's European festival tour, to audiences numbering in the tens of thousands.

Sussie Nielsen was born in Copenhagen in 1975. In her early teenage years, Sussie became a fan of the music of Clannad. She had, at that time, no particular ambition as far as music was concerned, being mainly interested in the body and physical therapy; an interest which led to a qualification as physical education teacher and masseuse. Returning from her first trip to Ireland, Sussie brought home a heap of music, and began to sing and to play the bodhrÃn.

A steadily growing interest in the music, including sean-nÃs ( old style ) singing and gaelic song, led Sussie back to Ireland. In 2002, she started at the Irish World Music Centre, University of Limerick, where she took an M.A. in Irish Traditional Music Performance under the direction of Professor MichÃal à SÃilleabhain. Her teachers included many fine singers, among these being PadraigÃn Nà UallachÃin, Iarla à LionÃird, Karan Casey and Len Graham.

She has received excellent reviews and several nomination for the Danish Music Awards 2004 and 2005.

Clear as glass and glowing
The many excellent musicians have, as I have mentioned, their part in the credit for this, in every way, successful cd. And luckily theyÂve received more space in the liner notes than studio musicians often get on âsoloâ records. Nikolaj Busk, piano and accordeon, has alrady been mentioned. The others are: Helen Davies, harp. Alan Colfer, guitar. CaoimhÃn à Raghallaigh, violin , tin whistle. Peter G. SÃrensen, violin. Bjarne Schmidt, bouzouki. Niklas Roswall, nyckelharpa and its predecessor the moraharpa. Soma Alpass, cello. They provide music which vibrates, glowing and clear as glass, in beautiful harmony with Sussie NielsenÂs simultaneously crisp and authoritatively strong and intense voice.

Hailing from Paris, France, and growing up in a small village of the French Alps, Clara Bellino blends heartfelt rhythms, magical lyrics, and unimaginable emotions into a rare mixture of solid American songs with an unfettered sense of humor and a European sense of what is amusing. Americans probably remain puzzled by her songs in French, but are still moved by the rhythms and the performance. Her English songs are instantly understandable and the range between Europop and American Music is beguiling. There is no single word that describes her songs. Itâs a mixture of thoroughly requited love and, at odd times, real aggression, but with a sense of humor that never fades. Clara grew up in a household where she was saturated in the essence of instrumentation and true musicianship. As a solidified Jazz fan, Clara's father exposed her to the musical artistry of such industry Legends who include Zappa, The Beatles, Mahalia Jackson, Bob Dylan, Fats Waller and Miles Davis. These experiences inspired Clara to pursue what would become her life's passion. She completed a ten year French Conservatory program covering Music Theory, Harmony, Piano and Tenor Recorder and is also an
accomplished guitarist.

We don't play pop music, we don't write music for art's sake, we don't represent any movements, we're not hip, we're not cutting edge, we don't dress to be cool. We do manage ourselves, we write our own songs, we do our own recordings, we shoot our own videos, we design our own covers, we made our own website. We're not generally negative people - oh yes, and we're not lefthanded.

We like our name because it doesn't say anything about who we are or what we do, we like to give our music a chance to do that. That said, we would liken ourselves (if we have to) to a darker Rilo Kiley, a rockier Death Cab for Cutie, a girlier We Are Scientists, a wordier Jimmy Eat World. Other people have likened us to Mazzy Starr, The Cardigans, The Postal Service, 10,000 Maniacs, jj72 - so if you shake all that up you might get some kind of idea.

We like to sing (except Benji who will only sing on his own, in a car). We like to get loud when we can (Tubescreamers are good!). We only play music that makes us feel something, in our gut. We like music that's honest. We're mostly Irish, partly Cornish (not corny!). We live in London. We really like playing music, everywhere we can

The Las Vegas based, nineteen-year-old Pop/R&B artist has taken on countless challenges in her young life and career, and has successfully met every single one. Born in Gabon, West Africa, Christelle grew up listening to French, African and American music, but the music that struck a chord in her was the American R&B and Hip-Hop of artists like Beyonce, Ashanti, Brandy, Jay-Z, 50 Cent and Mariah Carey. As Christelle recalls, âEven though I couldnât understand the lyrics back then, no other music made me feel as good.â

There is something mesmerizing and indisputable about things in life that come together by the mystery of fate â be it a personal relationship, an artistic endeavor, or a simple matter of being in the right place at the right time. When all three converge, the result is something that goes beyond any realm of possibility â

Such is the story of Los Angeles music duo BITTER:SWEET (Shana Halligan and Kiran Shahani) whose lives seemed to have over-lapped but never crossed until the perfect moment in time. How else can you explain two people who lived one block away from each other, and who recorded just one wall away, who never connected until an anonymous online posting?

When Kiran (producer, composer) and Shana (vocals, melodies, lyrics, co-producer) met, they were both ânot that intoâ the L.A. music scene. âThere was a time when I had even stopped listening to music,â explains Shana. âBut sometimes youâre just meant to do things in life...â

As a Southern California native, Shana had just returned home from âhaving a beautiful experienceâ in Europe when she decided to answer her first-ever ad for a singer. Not only was it an ad, it was on Craigâs List! The accomplished musician had grown up with music in her blood â her father is eight-time Grammy Award winning composer Dick Halligan of Blood, Sweat & Tears â and she had started her singing career at age seven by performing in films and television commercials. Later on, she performed live throughout the United States and Europe in addition to composing music for television shows and soundtracks (most recently she is featured on the Buckethead album singing a duet with Serj Tankian of System Of A Down).

And 2008 has been a good year for this New York City based singer-songwriter. The winter was full of excitement moving to and 'officially' becoming a 'New Yorker', the spring delight of releasing her new CD, Look Ahead, and the summer and fall have been chock full of performances to support her new release.

Raised in numerous places including Detroit, Kansas City, and Washington DC, Chrissy is no stranger to moving around and making things work for her. Her ease with meeting people from all different walks of life through her travels throughout the country and the world has afforded her the ability to translate those experiences into intensely thoughtful songs.

Chrissy didn't start off a singer-songwriter. In fact, it was only after a post college career in the environmental field, when she allowed herself the time to sit down and to develop her craft. Music has always been in her blood as an accomplished flutist and singer but songwriting was new. And she was more than ready for the challenge.

Leanne Bugat, or otherwise known as Lee, was born in Melbourne, Australia, into a musical family with her father being known as Australiaâs Roy Orbison back in the 50âs & 60âs. It comes as no surprise that Leanne was born with music in her veins.
During the last 20 years or so, live performances have been a big part of Leanne's life. She began by learning to play the clarinet, saxophone and then taught herself to play the guitar. This combination of instruments allowed Leanne to perform in school productions. There are many venues that Lee has performed in such as pubs, clubs, community events, festivals, parties, weddings, choirs and she has also been know to have busked.
At the age of 18 Leanne and her sister were chosen to do backing vocals for Diana Trasks' national Australian tour. Unfortunately due to circumstances out of Leanneâs control the tour was cancelled. This would have been a great jump start for Leanneâs career but was not forthcoming.

WENDY AND LISAâS WHITE FLAGS OF WINTER CHIMNEYS OUT NOW

Los Angeles, CA - Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman, better known as the legendary duo Wendy and Lisa, have released their new album, White Flags of Winter Chimneys. It is available exclusively on their web site wendyandlisa.com (with unreleased bonus tracks), to be followed with CD and Limited Edition vinyl releases, as well as being made available at iTunes, Amazon MP3, and other digital music stores in March 2009.

White Flags of Winter Chimneys is Wendy and Lisaâs first album since 1998âs Girl Bros. Self-produced and self-released by the duo, the album is a gorgeous kaleidoscope of song-compositions with influences ranging from trance to electronica to 70âs funk and straight up rock and roll.

The renowned fine artist and graphic designer Rex Ray, whose artwork has adorned albums by David Bowie, Diamanda Galas, Deee-Lite and many others, designed the album packaging. Additionally, the packaging of the CD will be a 6-panel Digipak comprised of recycled board, printed using non-toxic vegetable based ink, and a FlexTray made from 100% post-consumer plastic (recycled soda bottles).

Wendy and Lisa are also continuing in their successful television-scoring career. Currently, they are in their third season of scoring the NBC-TV hit âHeroes,â and they are taking on the scoring duties for the upcoming âVirtualityâ on Fox and âNurse Jackieâ on Showtime. They have received the prestigious ASCAP award for Composerâs of the Year for their work on Dangerous Minds, the theme to HBOâs Carnivale, Crossing Jordan and Heroes.

Wendy and Lisa first burst upon the consciousness of the music world in the early 80âs as part of Princeâs Revolution, where the two were Princeâs most trusted collaborators and partners for what arguably was the most seismic chapter of the legendâs career. Striking out on their own in 1986, they have released four well-regarded albums: Wendy and Lisa (1987), Fruit at the Bottom (1989), Eroica (1990), and Girl Bros. (1998).

Discovered while singing in the New York City subway by Producer Jamie Propp of As Is Entertainment, and recorded over three years with Adam Chalk, Propp recalls the first time he heard Manze singing. âWithin one song she transported me through the entire range of emotions. I will never forget that song.â That song was Dayilaâs original âSolÃ,â now the a cappella title track of her debut CD.

Manze performs with her band the Nago Nation, including guitarist Alexis Monvelyno (RAM), percussion/vocalist Evens âZiliboâ Seney & Jakobo, rapper Bennchoumy Elian, bassist Andy Galore and drummer Peter Barr. Miranda Vettrus grew up in an amusement park, makes horror movies with her younger sister, Mariah and writes Go Go's inspired songs at 3 in the morning. By the age of 5, Miranda had already jumped off a 100 foot crane thrill-ride dubbed the Sky-coaster dozens of times. She's written dozens of songs and continues to grow her catalog by the day.

Her spark for singing was ignited at the mature age of three, when she was brought up on stage at church to sing with her mother. She never looked back, and for the next six years, sang and played piano at church, performed at fairs and festivals included her family's amusement park, and sang with the Willamette Girlchoir, an all-girl choir based in Salem, Oregon. âI first saw Miranda perform with the Girlchoir, and I was blown away by the pipes on this little girl,â said music producer Jason Carter. âShe stood out like a shining star.â

Two years later, Carter saw her performing solo at a Salem festival, and asked her parents if theyâd like to bring her into the studio. The minute she stepped into the vocal booth, Miranda said, âI felt right at home." The two started production on her first demo.

ODi's story began when she uploaded some home recordings to My Space. People here, there and everywhere began to listen to her songs, loved what they heard and asked when her next gig was.

Inspired by this and armed with a beautiful, raw, voice, a cheap guitar, won on ebay, and her heart on her sleeve, ODi headed down to her local venue to blag her first gig. Her story has grown from there â.

âTwo years on, ODi was invited to support Seth Lakeman at the Beverley Folk Festival. Along the way, the hard working Wexford woman has played over 200 gigs across the UK, Ireland and Germany. Released in Ireland during summer 2008 The title track received national and regional airplay across the Emerald isle including a feature as âdownload of the dayâ on The Tony Fentonâs Today FM show. The EP also brought praise from Irish publications including Hot Press and the Galway Advertiser amongst others.

ODi comes off the back of a 30 date Irish tour and heads to the UK for dates in September to promote the release of âA Supermanâ

She then enters the studio in late 2008 to record her debut album, due for release in summer 2009.

Out of the clubs of Huntington, West Virginia comes the folk rocking sounds of Stacee Lawson.

Over the past 4 years Stacee has taken her musical abilities from karaoke to acoustic gigs to her brand of indie infused folk rock. In the fall of 2007 Stacee approached Jeff Westlake from Hydrogyn on helping her to formulate the music she was writing. Lawson took her acoustic songs to Jeff for him to hear and he agreed to co write and produce a CD for her.

After two months of writing and working together along with Julie Westlake as well Stacee was ready to enter the studio. The studio was Smash Hits studio in Huntington, WV. Over the next 8 weeks Lawson laid down 11 tracks for her now titled debut CD "DERANGED."

Once the CD was done Nathan Paull form BCD was given a copy to analize and like the product. After talks DA Records picked it up and is now set for a Sept 30th release.

Meaghan Blanchard is a 19 year old emerging singer/songwriter from Hunter River PEI. Her passion is music. She will enter her third year at UPEI this fall and has been performing in front of school, church and community benefit concert audiences from a young age, graduating to all ages shows and coffee houses in high school and now to concert venues, bars, and restaurants. She is set to release her very first album âChanging Thingsâ. The official CD launch will take place at the Guild on September 12th. The album was recorded in Charlottetown at Big Grey Sound Studios. It was produced by John Connolly and engineered by Jon Matthews. Mastering was handled by Paul Milner.

Meaghan began writing songs at 14 just after she took up the guitar which has become her favorite instrument. She plays both acoustic and electric. She also plays piano.

A native of Uganda, Rhoda was raised in the Washington, D.C. area, where East and West African rhythms, pop, jazz, Broadway, R&B, and hip hop music imbued her childhood, creating a unique hybrid in her musical sensibilities. As a member of various choral groups, from school and church choirs to a female a capella group while attending the University of Virginia, Rhoda's musical instruction includes five-part harmony and piano. Her talent emerges from deeply within, guided by a natural force of love and passion for all things creative.

Over the recent years, she has performed with bands, ranging in genre from rock, pop, and R&B, and studied acting at the HB Studio in New York. Rhoda's theater work includes Cabaret (Understudy, Sally Bowles) and Once on This Island (Ti Moune) with the New York based Harmony Theater Company. A four time Asbury Music Award Nominee and a New Jersey native, 23 year old Justina Carubia has been playing guitar and writing her own songs since she was 18.  With the influences of classic and folk rock, Justina writes from personal experience and fictional stories.  She pens all her own tunes and delivers from the heart with her soft , yet soulful rock vocal approach.

Fireball is, as the title suggests, high energy pop rock keyboard mayhem, but with very sweet hooks and a very guitar oriented swing into pop, It slightly reminds me of "Third Eye" by Red Kross, but that's just the first song. The second drifts into a more mellow Pink Floyd feel, but sparser and more on that indie rock tip. There's hints of a devil may care glam attitude, too: "Throw on the wigs and make-up and let's just rock", comes out sometimes, and the harmonies are beautiful. It feels like five songs aren't enough to figure this one out, though I'm going to definitely keep trying.

If AC/DC and Joan Jett were to have a child, and allow Van Halen, Motley Crue and Metallica to babsysit frequently, the result would be "Vision".
Visionâs sound is influenced by classic and 80âs rock/blues rock, with a touch of modern rock mixed in. Having a female front the bad gives a nice twist to the traditional feel. The band prides themselves on thoughtful, melodic lyrics layered over hard driving rhythms.
Vision was formed by David Vignola (guitar) and Juliette "Jules" Vignola (bass, vocals) in 2006. While they looked for band members they began writing the early songs which would eventually go on the first CD. After several lineup and name changes, the current lineup including Joe Johnston (keys, guitar), Diane Calano (drums) and Michelle PrivÃe (lead vocals) was completed around February 2008. Once the band was assembled, they started recording immediately, completing their first CD "No Regrets" in May 2008. Vision has since hit the road playing local gigs in the Connecticut area and building a strong fan base.

"No Regrets" is more than an album, it's a philosophy embraced by all members of Vision. Through good times and bad, we know that our experiences made us who we are, what doesn't kill us makes us stronger, and looking back, we have NO REGRETS!

JosÃphine left the romantic streets of Paris at the age of 17 to pursue her music in the bilingual city of Montreal, Canada. The couple of years she spent there were a stepping-stone for her transition from teenager to adult and from dreamer to artist. She was then ready to move to the city that she had always viewed as the music capital of the world: New York.

JosÃphine left the romantic streets of Paris at the age of 17 to pursue her music in the bilingual city of Montreal, Canada. The couple of years she spent there were a stepping-stone for her transition from teenager to adult and from dreamer to artist. She was then ready to move to the city that she had always viewed as the music capital of the world: New York.

MontrÃal gave JosÃphine her first stage experiences and introduced her to a whole new world of music. She joined The Peopleâs Gospel Choir of MontrÃal and was a part of their Vibe Award winning album. She has also recorded songs for film and a television commercial in France.

As soon as JosÃphine arrived in New York, she knew that she was in the right place and quickly found her way in the local New York music scene. She co-wrote and recorded her first album, Unfinished Life, with singer/songwriter Craig Wilson. In the meantime, she has been playing her songs around New York in venues such as The Bitter End, Crash Mansion, and R&R.

JosÃphine is an obvious romantic and sings with sweetness and hope although a certain melancholy and awareness of lifeâs pains and difficulties show her sensitivity in most of her songs. They have been described as âSweetly sung, counting up regrets such as in the standout, Right Here.â

Unfinished Life is an honest representation of who she is, with a persisting little French accent...

When people ask Tanya 'What do you do?', she says 'I'm a poet'. This gets a wide variety of responses, but mostly just 'oh'. She also says 'I'm a musician', which leads to such inevitable questions as 'What kind of music do you play?'. That's where things get hard to explain...
She writes songs in the loosely-defined alt-folk category, although also has tendencies towards well-arranged pop music and genres that get people dancing. Songs of love, life, work, and art. Songs with refreshingly candid lyrics, poetic and exposing. She's a relative newcomer on the Atlantic music scene, although she's been performing for years; that's where the 'poet' part comes in.

Writing and performing spoken word style poetry since 2000, Tanya's performed up and down the west coast and throughout the Maritimes. She placed first in the PEI portion of the 2005 CBC Poetry Faceoff and went on to place 3rd in the country. Of her poetry people say, 'engaging, unique, accessible and yet interesting use of language'; of her delivery they say, 'rhythmic, with great cadence and good timing'; of her presence as a performer they say 'genuine and magnetic.'

Cecilia Villar Eljuri was born in Ecuador and is the daughter of legendary radio, theatre and television pioneer Paco Villar and composer Olga Eljuri de Villar. In the creation of "En Paz," Cecilia tapped into her parentsâ artistic legacy and Ecuadorian background by traveling to her homeland during the writing stage, greatly impacting the direction of the album. What unfolds on "En Paz" are songs versed in rock rhythms and hook-driven melodies, complimented by confident lyrics. On "Sombra Negra," Eljuri delivers sultry vocals on the cusp of urgency backed by growling guitar licks. "Una Ola," one of the first tracks written for the album, reflects upon a dear friend and memories of him. Eljuri describes the powers of the ocean and how a single wave can sweep you away into bliss.
