Andi Neate is a singer/songwriter of exceptional talent, with a powerful voice, a gift for melody and a memorably quirky turn of phrase. She is a compelling live performer, who has been compared with Suzanne Vega, Ani Difranco and Tori Amos.
Andi does not easily fit into established categories, but draws on a wide range of influences from folk to rock to jazz. She has recorded with the Bhundu Boys and Irelandâs chart topping Mickey Harte and supported Rab Noakes, John Renbourne, Grammy nominee Eliza Gilkyson, Wolfstone and Horse MacDonald and shared a stage with KT Tunstall. She appears regularly at UK festivals, including Glastonbury, Cambridge Fringe Festival, Wickerman, Solfest and The Famous Spiegeltent. Her music has taken her as far afield as Canada, Sicily, Prague and the Falkland Islands.
Andi has released four solo albums, including her most recent, Lion Taming for Astronauts (2007). Recorded live at Edinburghâs Bongo Club, it features four brand new songs â Rocketship, Love As If, Home and Tales from the Circus - and a selection of favourites from her three previous recordings. Expect musical sparks and powerful soaring vocals when you jump aboard the rocket ship with this star in the making!

Based in their studio on the outskirts of Edinburgh the three began working on their first album 'Cliches Are Such a Bore' (what seems like ages ago). Puppetbox is an electro indie rock band based in Brooklyn. The band creates an impressive range of songs exploring electro, dance, walls of noise, and harmonious vocals. Their videos redefine the genre of music videos made by bands that want you to take their music seriously but can't stop making fun of themselves.

Puppetbox is a band. They are currently under the radar. In fact, both the radar and the band are unaware of each other. The band plays electro, rock, shoegazer, geek, pop music - and the radar continues to serve as a metaphor for bands that have made lots of money versus those that will forever be "emerging." The band is made up of John Payne(guitar/vox), Katie Johnston(vox/accordion/kazoo), Chris Tempas(synth/programming), and Mark Annotto(drums).

From a hamlet nestled on the corner shores of Brooklyn, Puppetbox has honed its sound to create beguiling pop melodies, but with a distinctive buzzy synth/guitar sound. Following a successful EP, Puppetbox released their eponymous album which expanded their songwriting to include array of styles and genres. The album, Runtime_Error! features songs ranging from hard electro-rock to infectious dance; the album moves relentlessly forward and includes shockingly original instrumentals all mixed seamlessly together into a gapless album.

The band's goal is to make songs that they would love to listen to â and they only listen to music that is awesome.

Whatâs black and white and can crush you like a bug? A piano. These monsters weigh anywhere from 300 lbs for a small upright, to four or even five times that for a concert grand. So why do artists let them sound so wimpy? KRISTEENYOUNG wants the piano to kick your ass. Their new album, Music for Strippers, Hookers, and the Odd On-Looker, feels like it was born in the boxing ring, not some sun-dappled Laurel Canyon living room.

âI wanted to create a new sound for piano on this album, and for it to be just as powerful and creative as any guitar-based record. I wanted it to sound like a wall of pianos, but like the wall in the film, Caligula: a wall that moves and decapitates everyone,â says Kristeen Young. The singer and composer has played since her childhood in St. Louis, and she knows what the piano is capable of. She sought to recapture the fiery, dangerous noise early rockers like Jerry Lee Lewis and Fats Domino wrought from the instrumentâs eighty-eight keys, albeit in a wholly modern way.

Youngâs foil in KRISTEENYOUNG is drummer âBabyâ Jef White, whose energy and fills bring to mind the great British drummers, but whose groove is undeniably American. Together, the duo has forged a sound full of percussive impact and melodic grandeur.

You think the White Stripes make a big ruckus for a two-piece? Bah! âStop Thinkingâ is anchored by low-end tone clusters that pummel like thunder. Yet Music for Strippersâ has moments of startling simplicity, too, as on its closer, âHalfway Across the Atlantic Ocean.â âAn album should be a spectrum of emotion,â says Young. âFar too often, people just deliver one thing. Maria Daines fronts a hard rockin' band playing original material written by Maria & guitarist Paul Killington. Hailing from Cambridgeshire, UK, they formed in 1996 becoming a fixture of the live music scene & making several TV appearances, garnering fans in over 20 countries. Featured on BBC & FM radio the band opened for US artist Pink at Cardiff International Arena in 2007. The concert raised over Â90,000 for six animal welfare charities. With the soothing sound of piano accompanied by a strong voice and an electronica edge, Jennings creates a sound drawn from musicians like Imogen Heap, Annie Lennox, Tori Amos and Moby.

Although her writing began in high school, Jenningsâ surge in musical expression started after the sudden death of her mother. âThis tragedy rocked me to the core, but there is so much beauty in what it allowed me to do,â she says. âAll of my emotions came pouring out in the form of melody.â At the time, her father, a former musician, gave her the option to go through therapy or record an album. He knew both would be equally helpful to her, but by recording her music, she would be able to have something to hold on to and share with others for a lifetime. Tara Simmons grew up on a five acre hobby farm on the flats at the foot of the Blue Mountains, her world bordered by a tapestry woven from captivating, haunting, simple sounds. In her mind, sheâs never left.

Little Tara was a solitary lass, but always looking for ways to channel her talent. When she was four, she parroted her brother playing violin to the point where she was sent to lessons of her own. At the age of nine, she nagged her cello-playing mother to be let loose on that instrument as well. And by the time she started high school, sheâd had eight different piano teachers â seven of whom were ill-equipped to deal with her short attention span, her intolerance for âMy Grandfatherâs Clockâ and other basic piano pieces, and her roaming mind. All the while, she honed her delicate voice in the Australian Youth Choirâs chamber ensemble.
Every afternoon of her young life, she was taxied to a different lesson determined to follow in the footsteps of those who influenced her.

Throughout her teens, Simmons fiddled after hours with illegal cracks of Logic and Cubase on her home computer, experimenting with electronic beats and found sounds, and blending them with the instruments sheâd known all her life. And all the while, she was writing - letting spikes of emotion carry her away to a different realm, from which she always returned with a song. Her questing nature eventually led her to leave home to further her studies of music production.

In 2005, now based in Brisbane, she unleashed her compositions on an unready public from behind a giant hard-drive and screen at a venue in the River Cityâs Fortitude Valley. So fraught was that performance that she didnât take the stage again for another year, instead choosing to continually tweak her seven-track debut EP Pendulum. Convinced it wasnât quite ready to leave the nest, Simmons all but shelved it.

Dreamdate get right to their business of brightening our day with their short, snappy tunes. The overall sound of Dreamdate can readily be spoken of in the same breath as early '90s crushworthy indie pop a la Lois, cub and Tiger Trap. As the unaffected and uneffected electric guitars strum away happily and the drums keep things simple with an uncluttered beat, you might find yourself hummin' along with these gals' warm, smooth female vocals. Jeannine Hebb, an award-winning songwriter and vocalist, has been studying, performing, writing, and rocking out since she was 11.

At 20, Jeannine graduated magna cum laude from Berklee College of Music, having studied with some of the best in the business (Gabrielle Goodman, Pat Pattison, Livingston Taylor). For two consecutive years, she won both the Berklee Singer/Songwriter and Songwriting Showcase competitions. She was chosen as the recipient of the Frank E. Remick and E. Ione Lockwood awards for excellence in music and vocal performance, and was honored with the Susan Glover Hitchcock scholarship for outstanding musicianship. Upon graduation, Jeannine received the Scott Benson scholarship for performing songwriters - the highest honor in the Berklee songwriting department.

Jeannine has been seen both as a singer and songwriter at many a famous venue in the Northeast including: Scullers, The Ragatta Bar, The Middle East, Harper's Ferry, The Berklee Performance Center,  The Bitter End, Rockwood Music Hall, Don Hill's, and Galapagos Art Space, and many more. She's appeared with jazz legends Ben Monder, Clarence Penn, James Genus, and Tim Ries, and has served as an opening act for two-time grammy nominee Tracy Bonham. 

Jeannineâs debut EP of original songs, âToo Late to Change Meâ, was released in March of 2007, and has received national attention and acclaim.  The songs, while roughly categorized as pop/rock, borrow influence from blues, jazz, R&B and soul. Comparisons have been made to Fiona Apple, Laura Nyro, Carole King, and Norah Jones. The EP has been described as âmusic like we have not heard in many, many yearsâ, and is âtruly reminiscent of the styles of foundational, outstanding songwriters.â - Noah Fleischman (WOR NYC radio producer).

The 24 year oldâs original compositions and jazz singing projects can be heard on the Boston College Show "The BC", and on many area radio stations, including Boston's famed WGBH.  Jeannine has appeared as a frequent guest on New York television and radio - as a performer on the Joey Reynoldâs Show (a long-running hit talk show on New Yorkâs WOR) , and âMetro Elvisâ (a weekly Manhattan program featuring up-and-coming artists).

In 2008, a video of Hebb's song âJust Enough for Meâ, was picked to appear as a sample video on the newest line of video/mp3 players released by Coby Electonics. Last October, her EP was featured on the cover of Discmakers - the nation's leading provider of CD duplication and manufacturing services.

Seduction comes in many forms. Those who can seduce with style make it seem effortless, unintentional, irresistible. Robin Stine's music seduces with a whiff of subtle perfume and a casual graze of her hand as she walks past, leaving the listener powerless to do anything but follow. As a singer, her voice floats on the stylish edge of contemporary coolâlight, but never lightweight. As a songwriter, her enchanting originals set her in the upper echelon of today's songwriters.

Born and raised in Kansas City, Robin began her musical journey as a child singing in school groups and church choirs. When she left for college she had no idea that music would take her around the world. For three of her collegiate years she performed with gospel groups, traveling across the U.S. as well as in Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Hong Kong and China. She then moved to Miami in 1996 to begin her graduate studies. During this time she performed with âMike Sumanâs Swing Cityâ and her own band âSimply Stellarâ at festivals, hotels and clubs throughout South Florida. In 2003 she moved to Pensacola to focus on the next phase of her musical careerâwriting and recording her original music.

Her debut album Daydream is a sleek collection of a dozen original jazzy, bluesy numbers that immediately sound like comfortable standards. The melancholy title track âDaydreamâ, the only co-write on the album, was written with Chris Whiteman at the University of Miami. The album's other originals were written over a six-month period while Robin rebuilt her home in the wake of Hurricane Ivan. âThese songs are very personal. They were gifts from âthe musesâ of genuine emotion, faith and hopeâand theyâre my gift to the world.â

Lori Lieberman has remained in the spotlight since the early seventies, quietly gleaning the respect of an industry and a devoted base of fans. Throughout the years of ever-changing styles and fads, one thing has remained constant in Lieberman's music-- her honest and heartfelt lyrics, coupled with her haunting, and beautiful melodies, always cutting right through to the heart of the listener.
Born in California, but raised in Switzerland, Lieberman felt the isolation and loneliness of growing up a foreigner early on, and as a young girl, turned to her writing as a form of connection, expressing her feelings in journals and in songs. One of three sisters, and the daughter of a chemical engineer and a homemaker, Lori Liebermanâs earliest influences came through her older sister, Susan, who, from her college in Maine, sent Lieberman her greatest and most life-changing gift of all, then current music from the states: Joni Mitchell, Judy Collins, Leonard Cohen, Jefferson Airplane and Tom Rush. Their music and sensibilities inspired her writing even more.

The Blow is Khaela Maricich and Jona Bechtolt.

Khaela Maricich is a pop musician, visual artist, and performer. She works in the cracks between pop music and performance art, bouncing between the genres to suck out the juicier parts of either world. She creates operatic performance pieces using the conversational style of popular music. She has toured the United States extensively performing her monologue based solo opera, "Blue Sky versus Night Sky", as well as giving traditional concerts of dance-party music with her band, The Blow. Under the banner of The Blow, (currently with bandmate Jona Bechtolt), Maricich has released five albums of music, crossing styles from folk to elecronic radio style hits. She has held a number of exhibitions of drawings and illuminated paper sculptures in Seattle, Olympia, and Portland. A native of Queen Anne Hill, Maricich spent an incubative decade in Olympia, but recently moved from her cosy home there to Portland, in order to be the artist in residence at the Portland Institute of Contemporary Art. Jona Bechtolt is a technological multi talent. His sound and video production can be found generously scattered throughout the internet, and in numerous popular live incarnations. With his project, YACHT, he makes textural dance-based compositions and performances, described by some as a "positive energy rainbow dome music from a next-generation west coast healer." He documents its movement via video, text, and images on his deeply archival and well-maintained blog, www.teamyacht.com. Currently, he is one half of The Blow, a constantly recording and touring pop mammoth music duo. In 2003, he was commissioned to create a full length audio/visual electronic pop opera by The Portland Institute for Contemporary Art (PICA), which he performed with his bandmate M. Ritchey. In 2005, he co-created, filmed, directed and edited an internet based reality show, The Ultimate Blogger, on which bloggers from around the world competed to win the illustrious title. The sequel, The Ultimate Blogger 2, is currently in production and is sweeping the nation once again. In January of 2006 he was commissioned for two performances for the New York based art and technology platform, Rhizome.org, as part of their "Crap-tops vs Laptops" show in New York. In February of 2006 he performed at MoMA's PS1 and produced an hour-long internet radio program with Clear Cut Press; a northwest-based publisher of new literary work. He has toured the United States and Canada extensively with his own projects, as well as a number of other bands. Most recently he played drums on Devendra Banhart's European festival tour, to audiences numbering in the tens of thousands.

Sussie Nielsen was born in Copenhagen in 1975. In her early teenage years, Sussie became a fan of the music of Clannad. She had, at that time, no particular ambition as far as music was concerned, being mainly interested in the body and physical therapy; an interest which led to a qualification as physical education teacher and masseuse. Returning from her first trip to Ireland, Sussie brought home a heap of music, and began to sing and to play the bodhrÃn.

A steadily growing interest in the music, including sean-nÃs ( old style ) singing and gaelic song, led Sussie back to Ireland. In 2002, she started at the Irish World Music Centre, University of Limerick, where she took an M.A. in Irish Traditional Music Performance under the direction of Professor MichÃal à SÃilleabhain. Her teachers included many fine singers, among these being PadraigÃn Nà UallachÃin, Iarla à LionÃird, Karan Casey and Len Graham.

She has received excellent reviews and several nomination for the Danish Music Awards 2004 and 2005.

Clear as glass and glowing
The many excellent musicians have, as I have mentioned, their part in the credit for this, in every way, successful cd. And luckily theyÂve received more space in the liner notes than studio musicians often get on âsoloâ records. Nikolaj Busk, piano and accordeon, has alrady been mentioned. The others are: Helen Davies, harp. Alan Colfer, guitar. CaoimhÃn à Raghallaigh, violin , tin whistle. Peter G. SÃrensen, violin. Bjarne Schmidt, bouzouki. Niklas Roswall, nyckelharpa and its predecessor the moraharpa. Soma Alpass, cello. They provide music which vibrates, glowing and clear as glass, in beautiful harmony with Sussie NielsenÂs simultaneously crisp and authoritatively strong and intense voice.

These experiences inspired Clara to pursue what would become her life's passion. We like our name because it doesn't say anything about who we are or what we do, we like to give our music a chance to do that. That said, we would liken ourselves (if we have to) to a darker Rilo Kiley, a rockier Death Cab for Cutie, a girlier We Are Scientists, a wordier Jimmy Eat World. Other people have likened us to Mazzy Starr, The Cardigans, The Postal Service, 10,000 Maniacs, jj72 - so if you shake all that up you might get some kind of idea.

We like to sing (except Benji who will only sing on his own, in a car). We like to get loud when we can (Tubescreamers are good!). We only play music that makes us feel something, in our gut. The Las Vegas based, nineteen-year-old Pop/R&B artist has taken on countless challenges in her young life and career, and has successfully met every single one. There is something mesmerizing and indisputable about things in life that come together by the mystery of fate â be it a personal relationship, an artistic endeavor, or a simple matter of being in the right place at the right time. When all three converge, the result is something that goes beyond any realm of possibility â

Such is the story of Los Angeles music duo BITTER:SWEET (Shana Halligan and Kiran Shahani) whose lives seemed to have over-lapped but never crossed until the perfect moment in time. How else can you explain two people who lived one block away from each other, and who recorded just one wall away, who never connected until an anonymous online posting?

When Kiran (producer, composer) and Shana (vocals, melodies, lyrics, co-producer) met, they were both ânot that intoâ the L.A. music scene. âThere was a time when I had even stopped listening to music,â explains Shana. âBut sometimes youâre just meant to do things in life...â

As a Southern California native, Shana had just returned home from âhaving a beautiful experienceâ in Europe when she decided to answer her first-ever ad for a singer. Not only was it an ad, it was on Craigâs List! The accomplished musician had grown up with music in her blood â her father is eight-time Grammy Award winning composer Dick Halligan of Blood, Sweat & Tears â and she had started her singing career at age seven by performing in films and television commercials. Later on, she performed live throughout the United States and Europe in addition to composing music for television shows and soundtracks (most recently she is featured on the Buckethead album singing a duet with Serj Tankian of System Of A Down).

And 2008 has been a good year for this New York City based singer-songwriter. The winter was full of excitement moving to and 'officially' becoming a 'New Yorker', the spring delight of releasing her new CD, Look Ahead, and the summer and fall have been chock full of performances to support her new release.

Raised in numerous places including Detroit, Kansas City, and Washington DC, Chrissy is no stranger to moving around and making things work for her. Her ease with meeting people from all different walks of life through her travels throughout the country and the world has afforded her the ability to translate those experiences into intensely thoughtful songs.

Chrissy didn't start off a singer-songwriter. In fact, it was only after a post college career in the environmental field, when she allowed herself the time to sit down and to develop her craft. Music has always been in her blood as an accomplished flutist and singer but songwriting was new. And she was more than ready for the challenge.

Leanne Bugat, or otherwise known as Lee, was born in Melbourne, Australia, into a musical family with her father being known as Australiaâs Roy Orbison back in the 50âs & 60âs. It comes as no surprise that Leanne was born with music in her veins.
During the last 20 years or so, live performances have been a big part of Leanne's life. She began by learning to play the clarinet, saxophone and then taught herself to play the guitar. This combination of instruments allowed Leanne to perform in school productions. There are many venues that Lee has performed in such as pubs, clubs, community events, festivals, parties, weddings, choirs and she has also been know to have busked.
At the age of 18 Leanne and her sister were chosen to do backing vocals for Diana Trasks' national Australian tour. Unfortunately due to circumstances out of Leanneâs control the tour was cancelled. This would have been a great jump start for Leanneâs career but was not forthcoming.

WENDY AND LISAâS WHITE FLAGS OF WINTER CHIMNEYS OUT NOW

Los Angeles, CA - Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman, better known as the legendary duo Wendy and Lisa, have released their new album, White Flags of Winter Chimneys. It is available exclusively on their web site wendyandlisa.com (with unreleased bonus tracks), to be followed with CD and Limited Edition vinyl releases, as well as being made available at iTunes, Amazon MP3, and other digital music stores in March 2009.

White Flags of Winter Chimneys is Wendy and Lisaâs first album since 1998âs Girl Bros. Self-produced and self-released by the duo, the album is a gorgeous kaleidoscope of song-compositions with influences ranging from trance to electronica to 70âs funk and straight up rock and roll.

The renowned fine artist and graphic designer Rex Ray, whose artwork has adorned albums by David Bowie, Diamanda Galas, Deee-Lite and many others, designed the album packaging. Additionally, the packaging of the CD will be a 6-panel Digipak comprised of recycled board, printed using non-toxic vegetable based ink, and a FlexTray made from 100% post-consumer plastic (recycled soda bottles).

Wendy and Lisa are also continuing in their successful television-scoring career. Currently, they are in their third season of scoring the NBC-TV hit âHeroes,â and they are taking on the scoring duties for the upcoming âVirtualityâ on Fox and âNurse Jackieâ on Showtime. They have received the prestigious ASCAP award for Composerâs of the Year for their work on Dangerous Minds, the theme to HBOâs Carnivale, Crossing Jordan and Heroes.

Wendy and Lisa first burst upon the consciousness of the music world in the early 80âs as part of Princeâs Revolution, where the two were Princeâs most trusted collaborators and partners for what arguably was the most seismic chapter of the legendâs career. Discovered while singing in the New York City subway by Producer Jamie Propp of As Is Entertainment, and recorded over three years with Adam Chalk, Propp recalls the first time he heard Manze singing. âWithin one song she transported me through the entire range of emotions. Miranda Vettrus grew up in an amusement park, makes horror movies with her younger sister, Mariah and writes Go Go's inspired songs at 3 in the morning. By the age of 5, Miranda had already jumped off a 100 foot crane thrill-ride dubbed the Sky-coaster dozens of times. She's written dozens of songs and continues to grow her catalog by the day.

Her spark for singing was ignited at the mature age of three, when she was brought up on stage at church to sing with her mother. She never looked back, and for the next six years, sang and played piano at church, performed at fairs and festivals included her family's amusement park, and sang with the Willamette Girlchoir, an all-girl choir based in Salem, Oregon. âI first saw Miranda perform with the Girlchoir, and I was blown away by the pipes on this little girl,â said music producer Jason Carter. âShe stood out like a shining star.â

Two years later, Carter saw her performing solo at a Salem festival, and asked her parents if theyâd like to bring her into the studio. The minute she stepped into the vocal booth, Miranda said, âI felt right at home." The two started production on her first demo.

Raised in a music-friendly home â growing up with piano lessons and a public address system in the living room to practice Patsy Cline on - Shedd found punk rock as a teen and morphed into a singer-songwriter wrestling with a love of distortion. ODi's story began when she uploaded some home recordings to My Space. People here, there and everywhere began to listen to her songs, loved what they heard and asked when her next gig was.

Inspired by this and armed with a beautiful, raw, voice, a cheap guitar, won on ebay, and her heart on her sleeve, ODi headed down to her local venue to blag her first gig. Her story has grown from there â.

âTwo years on, ODi was invited to support Seth Lakeman at the Beverley Folk Festival. Along the way, the hard working Wexford woman has played over 200 gigs across the UK, Ireland and Germany. Released 2 well received singles "Crawl" and "What You Deserve" whilst developing an ever growing fanbase. Sheâs also managed to trade in the cheap guitar for a better one!

Her captivating voice and well crafted songs have already been likened to those of Suzanne Vega and Natalie Merchant. The musical landscapes on her recordings hinting towards a female version of Damien Rice, with a touch of PJ Harvey thrown in for good measure.

October sees ODi bring her new EP âA Supermanâ to the UK. The 5 Tracker features production input from Ken McHugh aka Autamata, (Juno Falls, David Kitt) and Karl Odlum (Fionn Regan , The Frames, Gemma Hayes)

Released in Ireland during summer 2008 The title track received national and regional airplay across the Emerald isle including a feature as âdownload of the dayâ on The Tony Fentonâs Today FM show. The EP also brought praise from Irish publications including Hot Press and the Galway Advertiser amongst others.

ODi comes off the back of a 30 date Irish tour and heads to the UK for dates in September to promote the release of âA Supermanâ

She then enters the studio in late 2008 to record her debut album, due for release in summer 2009.

Out of the clubs of Huntington, West Virginia comes the folk rocking sounds of Stacee Lawson.

Over the past 4 years Stacee has taken her musical abilities from karaoke to acoustic gigs to her brand of indie infused folk rock. In the fall of 2007 Stacee approached Jeff Westlake from Hydrogyn on helping her to formulate the music she was writing. Lawson took her acoustic songs to Jeff for him to hear and he agreed to co write and produce a CD for her.

After two months of writing and working together along with Julie Westlake as well Stacee was ready to enter the studio. The studio was Smash Hits studio in Huntington, WV. Over the next 8 weeks Lawson laid down 11 tracks for her now titled debut CD "DERANGED."

Once the CD was done Nathan Paull form BCD was given a copy to analize and like the product. After talks DA Records picked it up and is now set for a Sept 30th release.

Meaghan Blanchard is a 19 year old emerging singer/songwriter from Hunter River PEI. Her passion is music. She will enter her third year at UPEI this fall and has been performing in front of school, church and community benefit concert audiences from a young age, graduating to all ages shows and coffee houses in high school and now to concert venues, bars, and restaurants. She is set to release her very first album âChanging Thingsâ. The official CD launch will take place at the Guild on September 12th. The album was recorded in Charlottetown at Big Grey Sound Studios. It was produced by John Connolly and engineered by Jon Matthews. Mastering was handled by Paul Milner.

Meaghan began writing songs at 14 just after she took up the guitar which has become her favorite instrument. She plays both acoustic and electric. She also plays piano.

Of English, Dutch, and German descent, DoÃa is the offspring of a trumpet playing Episcopal Priest father and a cabaret singer mom (her best pal). Born on June 2, this Gemini is a seasoned performer. She started playing piano at age five, on a one octave toy piano. She took lessons at school without her parents knowledge. By age 6 it was apparent that DoÃa was serious. Her mother bought her an upright Baldwin piano - her first real piano, and by 7 she was giving concerts at school.

Along the way, DoÃa took center stage with another talent - singing. DoÃa strengthened her pipes and learned her stage savvy with years of theatrical work; both regionally and Off-Broadway. With her theatrical interest, she went to New York City to study Drama at NYU, Tisch School of the Arts. A native of Uganda, Rhoda was raised in the Washington, D.C. area, where East and West African rhythms, pop, jazz, Broadway, R&B, and hip hop music imbued her childhood, creating a unique hybrid in her musical sensibilities. As a member of various choral groups, from school and church choirs to a female a capella group while attending the University of Virginia, Rhoda's musical instruction includes five-part harmony and piano. Her talent emerges from deeply within, guided by a natural force of love and passion for all things creative.

Over the recent years, she has performed with bands, ranging in genre from rock, pop, and R&B, and studied acting at the HB Studio in New York. Rhoda's theater work includes Cabaret (Understudy, Sally Bowles) and Once on This Island (Ti Moune) with the New York based Harmony Theater Company. Most recently, she has shared the the stage with J-Records recording star Gavin DeGraw and Blues Legend Moe Holmes. A four time Asbury Music Award Nominee and a New Jersey native, 23 year old Justina Carubia has been playing guitar and writing her own songs since she was 18.  With the influences of classic and folk rock, Justina writes from personal experience and fictional stories.  She pens all her own tunes and delivers from the heart with her soft , yet soulful rock vocal approach.

Darcy Fray has a flair for the dramatic. THE FIREBALL EP

Fireball is, as the title suggests, high energy pop rock keyboard mayhem, but with very sweet hooks and a very guitar oriented swing into pop, It slightly reminds me of "Third Eye" by Red Kross, but that's just the first song. The second drifts into a more mellow Pink Floyd feel, but sparser and more on that indie rock tip. There's hints of a devil may care glam attitude, too: "Throw on the wigs and make-up and let's just rock", comes out sometimes, and the harmonies are beautiful. It feels like five songs aren't enough to figure this one out, though I'm going to definitely keep trying.

If AC/DC and Joan Jett were to have a child, and allow Van Halen, Motley Crue and Metallica to babsysit frequently, the result would be "Vision".
Visionâs sound is influenced by classic and 80âs rock/blues rock, with a touch of modern rock mixed in. Having a female front the bad gives a nice twist to the traditional feel. The band prides themselves on thoughtful, melodic lyrics layered over hard driving rhythms.
Vision was formed by David Vignola (guitar) and Juliette "Jules" Vignola (bass, vocals) in 2006. While they looked for band members they began writing the early songs which would eventually go on the first CD. After several lineup and name changes, the current lineup including Joe Johnston (keys, guitar), Diane Calano (drums) and Michelle PrivÃe (lead vocals) was completed around February 2008. Once the band was assembled, they started recording immediately, completing their first CD "No Regrets" in May 2008. Vision has since hit the road playing local gigs in the Connecticut area and building a strong fan base.

"No Regrets" is more than an album, it's a philosophy embraced by all members of Vision. Through good times and bad, we know that our experiences made us who we are, what doesn't kill us makes us stronger, and looking back, we have NO REGRETS!

JosÃphine left the romantic streets of Paris at the age of 17 to pursue her music in the bilingual city of Montreal, Canada. MontrÃal gave JosÃphine her first stage experiences and introduced her to a whole new world of music. She joined The Peopleâs Gospel Choir of MontrÃal and was a part of their Vibe Award winning album. She has also recorded songs for film and a television commercial in France.

As soon as JosÃphine arrived in New York, she knew that she was in the right place and quickly found her way in the local New York music scene. She co-wrote and recorded her first album, Unfinished Life, with singer/songwriter Craig Wilson. In the meantime, she has been playing her songs around New York in venues such as The Bitter End, Crash Mansion, and R&R.

JosÃphine is an obvious romantic and sings with sweetness and hope although a certain melancholy and awareness of lifeâs pains and difficulties show her sensitivity in most of her songs. They have been described as âSweetly sung, counting up regrets such as in the standout, Right Here.â

When people ask Tanya 'What do you do?', she says 'I'm a poet'. This gets a wide variety of responses, but mostly just 'oh'. She also says 'I'm a musician', which leads to such inevitable questions as 'What kind of music do you play?'. That's where things get hard to explain...
She writes songs in the loosely-defined alt-folk category, although also has tendencies towards well-arranged pop music and genres that get people dancing. Songs of love, life, work, and art. Songs with refreshingly candid lyrics, poetic and exposing. She's a relative newcomer on the Atlantic music scene, although she's been performing for years; that's where the 'poet' part comes in.

Writing and performing spoken word style poetry since 2000, Tanya's performed up and down the west coast and throughout the Maritimes. Up-and-coming popular singer Lin McEwan recently premiered her first two music videos before a packed crowd of cheering fans and friends at Manhattanâs Zipper Factory. The show also celebrated the release of the digital-only Now I Know EP, the follow-up to her self-titled debut album. The EP is the first release entirely composed of songs written by Lin and co-writer Mike Pettry.

Both the videos and the EP mark a big change for a girl who spent her youth being told that she couldnât sing because her voice was too low. "My voice was so strange for my age," she recalls, "that when I was in the eighth grade, I had to play Santa Claus because the boys voices hadn't changed yet, and I was the only one who could do a convincing, âHo, ho, ho.â"

It wasn't until she was 16 that she stepped onto the stage of her high school's gala gospel concert to give her first ever solo performance, a rousing blues take of "Amazing Grace," for which she received a thunderous three-minute standing ovation.

Since arriving in New York, the Baltimore-native has been âgaining notice for her uncommonly deep voiceâ and for her âsoulfully sung and well-written materialââa funky fusion of soul and popâ like Tina Turner or Mavis Staples singing over Keane (The Baltimore Sun; JustSoul). Along with her talented group of regular players, whoâve backed everyone from Jesse Malin to Gavin DeGraw, sheâs appeared at such landmark establishments as CBGB's and the Bitter End, as well as the Living Room, the Rockwood Music Hall, the Cutting Room, Crash Mansion, and Arlene's Grocery. But she still considers Baltimore home and takes the band back as often as possible.

When UK music journalists loudly christened the âNeu-Raveâ genre this past summer, with magazines like iD and NME putting Dandi Wind squarely at the forefront, we could hardly wait for the movement to surface, just like âOlde-Rave,â on North Americaâs cultural radar, in about a half-decade or so. The rumored scattershot resurgence of glowsticks in non-rave settings gave us slight encouragement for a quicker turnaround, but, ever since the recent death of society, this seemed no less tenuous and shallow than an ironic reclamation of Pogs. So, is Neu-Rave a movement with legs? Or just indie-rock with tacked-on âwhooshy siren ravey noisesâ cynically appropriating yet another newly-minted nostalgic era? It doesnât matter, because Dandi Wind is much more than a tripster buzz-genre could ever define, sincerely or not.

Much has been made of the Dandi Wind live experience, whose legend has been growing with every show. The sheer wall-climbing, feral physicality of Dandiâs stage performance, in lockstep with keyboardist/programmer Szamâs (and recently added live drummer Evanâs) relentless playing, can belie the fact that their show is startlingly tight for something seemingly on the verge of utter chaos. During recent touring with fellow infamous club-destroyers such as Les Georges Leningrad, Klaxons, Justice, Broken Social Scene and Erase Errata, the trio of Dandi Wind threatened to tear the roof off of every venue with impunity, often outshining their better-known compatriots, and all without a hint of irony. That blood is real blood, and possibly your blood. Authentic!

Dandi Windâs debut full-length Concrete Igloo, originally self-released in a highly limited run to a quick sell-out, has now been reissued on Summer Lovers Unlimited in enhanced CD format, with stark, jaw-dropping design and ten music videos. As with the Dandi Wind live show, this album is a truly cohesive cross-media assault. The jarring, icy imagery of Dandiâs design is mirrored perfectly in Concrete Iglooâs sound - a fierce, claustrophobic collision of genre, meme, and modern-age mania. Songs like âPluck It Outâ and âApotemnophiliaâ speak of perverse urges to escape the strictures of the human body (the latter song being the clinical term for the urge to self-amputate) yet are intensely rhythmic and danceable. Dandiâs vocals throughout are, by turns, animalistically gutteral and unnervingly slight, riding on Szamâs onrushing sheets of synth. On crowd favorites like âBalloon Factory,â absurdist vignettes are played out in the form of fractured playground chant and narrative. Songs like âEinsteinbrainsâ speak of human interaction but do so with a frenetic detachment from reality, in perfect keeping with our increasingly depersonalized times. The group playfully refers to itself as âpost no-waveâ, but itâs rather more fitting to categorize Dandi Wind as post-civilization. (Coming soon.)

Divisible has been an ever-changing entity since its birth in February 2004. Through several incarnations, however, one thing has remained constant: the strength of the band's emotional core. The music has always been moody, atmospheric, and accessible. With the current line-up (Shola on guitar/vocals, Albert on drums, Jaysson on bass), the band has a solid and promising history. After recording their first demo in the confines of their rehearsal room, it was apparent Divisible had developed their own sound. Bryan Cook (Gary Jules, Michael Andrews) agreed to mix the three songs and ready it for release. Drawing local attention by handing out their 3-song demo, Divisible garnered interest from local A&R website Buzzplay.com (featured band), Filter Magazine (pick of the week), and ABC Television. Writing new songs and performing around Los Angeles, the band is currently finalizing their first official release, the Alchemy EP due out July 25th.

Singer/songwriter, Meagin Donovans charged, percussive, yet technically intricate acoustic guitar work and passionate singing seems effortless, and her energy, endless. Born in Noblesville, Indiana, Meagin has called the Pacific Northwest her home for years. One day in college, something inside Meagin caused her to pick up the acoustic guitar. Since then everything has made more sense. Completely self-taught, Meagins style is uninhibited, describing the process of writing as easy because, All six strings are friends. You just have to find out what theyre saying together.

New to the music scene, Meagin has only played acoustic guitar for five years. And, although she is new to Seattle she has gigged all over western Washington. Shes played at: hopvine pub, Galway arms, Ballard firehouse, Black box which was a show sponsored by The University of Washington radio station, KEXP, the showbox greenroom, and many others. She has also gigged in Tacoma and Olympia. She writes relentlessly; her all-original sets can run up to two hours.

With the recent addition of hand drums, Meagins demo ranges from introspective, to daring and raw. Meagins commitment to improvisation and live performance are evident at her shows and on her demo.

Meagins unique songwriting and powerful, rocking guitar playing, along with awesome timing of the hand drums creates a sound that is different than anything out there right now. In 2006, after eight years of fronting the critically acclaimed Colorado-based band, Newcomers Home, and releasing her first solo record, Watch Them Fall, as a side projectâsinger/songwriter Katie Herzig retreated to the solitude of her bedroom studio. There, she single-handedly recorded and produced Weightless, a tour-de-force of innovative sonics and songwriting whose tracks have been prominently featured on NPR, KCRWâs Morning Becomes Eclectic, E.R., Smallville, and, most recently, on two episodes of televisionâs highest-rated drama, Greyâs Anatomy.

Singer/songwriter Jessie McKenna began singing along to her mom's Suzanne Vega tapes at four and wrote her first song, now lost to history, at six. By age thirteen, Jessie had an electric bass she played like a rhythm instrument, and began writing what would become a catalog of dozens of thoughtful, melodic rock songs ranging from lighthearted to darkly beautiful, sometimes within the same song.

In the summer of 2002, Jessie put together a band in an attempt to bring her songs to life, ans soon after, Jessie's mom, Marti McKenna, joined the group on backing vocals. By the summer of 2003 the band prepared to go into the studio for the first time. Performing as Jessie McKenna and Her Band (JMaHB), the lineup included Ricochet Biscuit members Ric Neil, Brian Ochs, and Evan Middlesworth, and produced the Deluded EP (recorded at Hype Schwartz). In January of 2004 the McKenna girls split off to perform as an acoustic act. They became Ruby Shuz in July of 2004.

Bassist Brandon Koeller joined the band in the summer of 2005, bringing a spirit and enthusiasm that, along with his solid bass lines, fuels the band's fire on stage.

Soon after joining the band, Brandon brought drummer Ben Anderson into the mix. A member of the Seattle Seahawks Drumline, Ben's dynamic beats and humor drive the music and stir the band's chemistry during every performance.

In early 2006, Andrew Benton joined the band on lead guitars. Today, his guitar work is an integral part of each Ruby Shuz song.

Born and raised in the Welsh city of Cardiff, Donna was classically trained at the Welsh College of Music and Drama, majoring in flute and piano. The band had its origin in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. Originally called the Tullys and later known as Ghost Houses, they were a part of the music scene that produced such bands as Hum, Poster Children, and the Moon Seven Times / Lanterna. They played most of the main venues in town: the Blind Pig, Mabel's, Treno's, etc. They also recorded a bunch of 4-track demos as well as a couple of songs at Brendan Gamble's cozy Blanket Studios. In 2000, the band went on hiatus. Spiro was busy recording, producing and playing with the band Irradio. Unfortunately, after a revival of the live band, SharashkA officially disbanded in December, 2006. Please direct any future correspondence to Spiro Bolos, only. Thanks for listening.

Je me nomme MÃlissa j'ai 15 ans et un rÃve qui est en train de se rÃaliser... J'habite a saint raphaÃl dans le var, la musique est ma passion et je pratique le piano depuis 7 ans deja. Voila mon parcours en quelques lignes ...

C'est à l'age de 14 ans que j'ai dÃcidà de chanter. Je me suis donc
inscrite a des cours de chant variÃtÃs qui ne m'on pas vraiment
apportÃs grand chose.

Un ans c'est Ãcoulà et je me suis mise au chant
lyrique: les bases de la chanson . Cela m'a beaucoup appris et j'ai
vraiment decouvert une seconde famille.

Ici je ne dirais pas d'idioties du genre : "je chante depuis l'age de 5 ans" non je veux que l'on sache comment j'ai fait pour m'amÃliorer en peu de temps .

Au bout de 6 mois de chant lyrique j'ai fais mes premiers pas
sur scene en ouvrant un spectacle classique. Les spectateurs Ãtaient nombreux et j'ai reÃu des compliments de tous . Une fois l'annÃe de chant terminÃe je me suis mise a composer des chansons et des morceaux de piano de genres diffÃrents (pop, variÃtÃs, symphonie etc ...).

Au dÃbut je fesais cela pour mon plaisir personnel jusqu'au jour ou mon pÃre m'a entendu chanter une de mes compositions. Tout a fait conquis il a decidà de me faire enregistrer un cd qui serait composà de 3 titres. On a donc contactà un realisateur (CÃdric Conti) qui Ãtait vraiment partant pour le projet. J'ai enregistrà 5 titres au total et j'ai vraiment pris le plus grand plaisir a faire cela .

A 15 ans j'ai enregistrà un cd, et bientot un album de 14 titres si tout ce projet se prÃsente bien .

Jezebel was formed in 2001 by Helene Ring Teppan and Vivian Mari Ozalbo. At the time the band was called Go Brutal Sweeties and the first song was made in one week. The music was quite traditional pop/rock, and the name was found in a pin-up calendar from the 1920s. The band consisted of four girls and a male drummer.

After the band had been called Sidestreet Sirens for a brief period, the music changed direction with the birth of the song Simple Solutions. They then started using more untraditional elements; electric guitar played with a bow and more frequent use of unusual time-signatures. During the spring of 2003, the band changed their name again; this time to Jezebel. At this point the band headed for the studio for the first time and recorded a demo consisting of three songs: Blame Me, Strangest Patterns and Simple Solutions. Jezebel got their first opportunity at national fame, when NRK Petres radioshow for unsigned bands, UrÃrt, played Simple Solutions on air.

The time that followed is characterized by a constant evolution of the repertoire, active use of the UrÃrt homepage (where a live version of the song Dissect is listed as one of the favourites) and several gigs in Oslo. The music has become what it is today as a result of the band-members. The music spans over a lot of genres and you find elements of jazz, blues and prog as well as traditional pop and rock. Musical quibble, as some would say.

*2005 Jezebel plays live and is interviewed on radio at Kanal 24s Tut og kjÃr w/Rune Hekkelstrand.
The Ep "Simple" is finished in July. Conserts at Betonghaven, Skuret, Blue Monk and GrÃnnlandshagen.
* 2006 Jezebel recorded new songs in December.

Bio

The Norwegain band ACELSIA, may be considered as melodic hard rock. Sometimes quiet and mellow, sometimes heavy and noisy - the band is recognised by soothing melodies, melancholy moods and Malene's emotional voice.

Acelsia started as a solo project in the summer of 2006. Malene wanted to record some of her songs and got Nils and some other friends to help her out in the studio. Happy with the result, Malene decided to take the project further and form a permanent band.

Marius and HÃkon showed up for auditions and was soon chosen to join the band. After some time with no permanent second guitarist, the band got its current line-up when Odd Henning joined the band in the fall of 2007.

Acelsia has contributed to different compilation albums such as âMÃnerock vol 2â and âNorwegian Wood Music For Chinaâ. In the fall of 2007 they recorded a music video for the song âChristineâ.

In the last couple of months, Acelsia has taken a new musical direction, away from the guitar based pop/rock to more complex and melodic hard rock/goth metal. With this changed expression, the band has found their identity. In March, 2008, the band recorded a demo to show their recent development.

Acelsia tries to create honest and genuine music with hopes that the emotions it conveys will touch the listener. The music is contrastive and emotional, and moves between one extreme to the other, from the soft and sweet to the more brutal and heavy, but always with a strong melody in the center.

Thereâs something undeniably seductive about jazz music- its glamour, sexuality and earnest, soulful roots all appeal to a comfortable, old-fashioned musical sensibility. Yet singer/songwriter Rosey is one of the select few who sees one step beyond the classic image and recognizes the genre as an entirely fresh form of pop music. A longtime jazz lover who began her eclectic career as a rock nâ soul siren on Island/Def Jam, Rosey is unique in her ability to find the delicate balance between both eras on The Luckiest Girl, her smoky, sensual, self-produced Quango debut.

Since we last heard from Rosey on that aforementioned 2002 freshman effort, her remarkable career has indeed taken many exciting twists and turns throughout several unconventional musical associations. Following instant national attention from her single âLoveâ landing on the Bridget Jonesâs Diary soundtrack and âThe Afterlifeâ scoring a slot in the Farrelly Brothersâ Shallow Hal, the tunesmith toured with the lauded likes of Melissa Etheridge and Morcheeba. Outside of her own interests, sheâs also teamed up as a co-writer on many occasions, from hit maker Kelis to a number of burgeoning artists (with whom she doubles as a mentor) to writing jingles for commercials.

âI always dreamed of making timeless music, plus people have always told me my voice was well-suited to jazz and that I should try it,â she shares. âSo I hooked up with [longtime friend and legendary session player] Hugh McCracken to record a bunch of standards. A few days into those sessions, we starting writing a song I called âThe Old Fashioned Way,â which really set the pace for the record. With everybody and their mom putting out a standards album, I knew I had to go full steam and write my own jazzy repertoire. I am a songwriter after all, so it just made more sense to do it that way. I do enjoy a good challenge, and musically, this one was massive. â

ROBOTS IN DISGUISE are fronted by DEE PLUME (guitar and vocals) and SUE DENIM (bass and vocals). Part riot grrl princesses, part monsters of DIY musical mayhem, this maverick electro-indie-rock-dance duo has a reputation for fashion-forward style and energetic shows where Dee's guitar and Sue's grooving bass lines dance over chunky electronic beats and tell-it-like-it-is lyrics.

The Robots first met at a Le Tigre gig and quickly discovered a shared love of girl punk bands and so started writing music together.

Snapped up by French label, Recall, ROBOTS IN DISGUISE released their eponymous debut album in 2004, creating a real buzz throughout Europe after which they took their crazed live show on tour. Their dancefloor killer 12â single, BOYS, was released with remixes by Hidden Agenda, SIN, The Servant and Tommy Hools and won over a host of fans including Boy George and Peaches.

After a US release and tour in 2005, ROBOTS IN DISGUISE released GET RID!, their sharp, snazzy electrofunk album on Recall in France, Anorak Supersport in Benelux countries and Australiaâs Shock Records. Their standout single, DJâs GOT A GUN, enjoyed heavy rotation across Europe and the States. GET RID! was then released by President Records in the UK last year, with its single, TURN IT UP, featured on US hit show, Ugly Betty.

Robots in Disguise have graced the pages of numerous fashion magazines donning their discopunk mod look and have also acted in BBC2's The Mighty Boosh as evil alter egos, The Electro Girls and The Goth Girls.
